what exactly can lovenkrand offer over ranger? apart from turning up to training on time?

 

more intelligent movement in the box would be about it. lovenkrands reminds me of Owen in his last season here, offering literally nothing but the idea that he might score.

Carroll and Ameobi were fit for most of that time.  He didn't start Lovenkrands ahead of Ranger.

Again, that was before Ranger had shown how big an impact he could make off the bench.

 

At least as far as I know.  This RangerRevolution has only started since those few substitute appearances, really.

And Ranger hadn't performed like he did against Liverpool at that point.

Ranger's exclusion is even more bizarre considering he changed the game when he came on as sub in Pardew's first match in charge and was told he'd have been in the starting 11 against Birmingham.
