James Posted January 18, 2011 Share Posted January 18, 2011 Lots of debate over who is going to get the Olympic Stadium and there seem to be only two credible bids. I am very opposed to the Spurs bid myself. They want to knock down te entire Olympic Stadium and sell naming rights for the new one which for me makes a complete waste of the money and effort that has gone towards the Olympic Games. Spurs can afford a new stadium, they have planning permission for a new stadium, only they don't want to take it up because they'd have to pay for various mitigatory measures that any council anywhere would ask for. This is all about making a lot of money for a small number of people with no real benefit to any community in London. At least West Ham want to keep the stadium (after shrinking it a bit), and want to continue to use it as a multipurpose venue. Of course there are monetary benefits for them but this isn't the Spurs bulldozer. Besides it is much less likely to give West Ham an unfair competitive advantage. Spurs have turned their backs on one of the most deprived areas of London because they realised that the Olympic stadium would generate tens of millions more for them per year. The tens of million more per year Spurs are likely to get without any serious effort is a reason why you should be bothered Pissi even if you don't care much about the other stuff.
