Asked my best mate, Boro season ticket holder of 15 years for his verdict on Aliadiere - still doesn't know what position he's meant to play, doesn't score any goals up front, doesn't create enough to play as a winger, has pace but no more than a lot of players now, terrible Premiership player, average Championship one, said we'd end up even more desperate if we get him in.

Oh, now you're championing Lovenkrands on the wing.

You're definitely doing this on purpose.

"championing" him? I said if I had it my way he'll be making the tea. If I had to use him, it'll be on the wing.

Sour grapes.

How can he say he is terrible? He formed a good partnership up front with Tuncay. If Boro would of stuck with them upfront instead of Mido and Alves, then maybe they could of stayed up. There is no denying they had a great football team. AJ, Downing, Tuncay, Wheater ect. The team they had was good enough for Europe.

Look the team they had obv wasnt good enough and Alliadere only scored 11 goals 78 matchs. not only that he's from our 2nd rivals. Please stop championing him. On that not if you could buy one player on earth who ISN'T Alliadere and money wasn't a prob who would by. I just wanna know what kind of person you are. So if you could buy one players regardless of money who would it be??

Brazilian striker Ewerthon has shunned an initial offer from Newcastle, skysports.com understands.

The 29-year-old is wanted by a number of clubs and the free agent is believed to be keen to test himself in England.

Skysports.com revealed Newcastle had joined the race to sign him last week, with the likes of West Brom also keen.

However, initial talks have broken down as Newcastle's offer looks to be short of what is wanted by the player.

Newcastle are desperately short of striking options. They sold Andy Carroll on transfer deadline day and were unable to bring in a replacement before the window shut, and then just days later Shola Ameobi fractured his cheekbone.

Offer

The Magpies are looking at numerous targets, but at the moment Ewerthon looks unlikely to make the move to the North East unless an improved bid is made.

His British representative Barry McIntosh told skysports.com: "There has been an offer from Newcastle.

"However, the player is still considering his options - that is all we can say at the moment."

Ewerthon has extensive experience in Europe having plied his trade for the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Stuttgart, Espanyol and Real Zaragoza.

He is eligible to join any club outside the window because his contract with previous club Palmeiras was cancelled in January.
