The king in happier times (1983), McEwans Lager, Exhibition & Scotch, a proper cling film wrap buffet on the pool table & a canny chanter

Decent

In these current days of there never having been a better time to be a beer drinker, choice, variety and quality, much of it from breweries on our doorsteps, and the town and north east in general having so many brilliant pubs, a reminder of how bad it was for the generation who's choice was the abysmal Ex, Scotch or something called lager.

Beer drinkers of today, never take for granted or fail to appreciate how fortunate you are.

A good pint of Ex was better than any of that over-hopped, grapefruit flavoured shite that passes for beer nowadays.

Can understand why people in the east of Germany hanker for the old days of the DDR, and other misplaced sentimentality, but why anyone would want to drink that mass produced piss that S&N and the other monopoly breweries produced back then is beyond me :)

I was drinking scotch right up until McEwan's pulled it this year, love it me.

I also love craft, but could I fucked be drinking DDH and DIPAs all night and at £5+ a pint every weekend

I'd also be absolutely palatic!

I've never heard of chanter before  I was actually correcting people when they were singing Seventeen Going Under. "Its canny chatter not chanter" I said. How wrong eh?

Loved Exhibition especially if it was Cask Ex. Worked in Morpeth Conservative Club years ago and many people used to mix Scotch and 80/

Wasn't that called Half n Half ?

Or was that something else ?

Aye, that was what we called half and half - means different things in other areas like, as I found out as a young lad in Scotland when served with a half of heavy and a wee dram of whisky.
