Good article by Jenas.

I think the strongest point is what everyone already knows, we didnt have enough character in the squad. We've then gone out and signed youngsters, two are 20 & the other couple 22 & Gini 24. Then weighted them with the pressure of turning around a side in poor form for half a season whos "experienced" players crumble instantly. Our answer against Sheffield was to bring a 19 year old on, its obvious.

They can have all the potential in the world, but they're all new to the league even before you put loads of expectation on them.

I still think Mitrovic was an odd signing.

The lad is 20 years old, if he does well & shows lots of potential to go on to be great he'll just get a move. We wont keep these players unless the status of our club goes up first, we need to be a top 6 side to even be worrying about potential. What we need here & now is players that will get us there. Instead we lost a striker for 3 games whos in the process of learning. Whether thats about his temperament or the league, he's learning.

We need players that arent still learning or likely to be taken off us if they come close to doing well. Obviously we wont get a good sell on fee for those players though, which is whats important.

1 transfer window out of 15(?) where MA has pulled out his wallet purely on the basis that the intense media coverage generated is seriously impacting his brand (this has nothing to do with our almost-relegation as nothing was done after Pardew's near-miss).

This 1 transfer window does not make up for constant neglect from the FCB, the rotten attitude has always came from the top and has seeped down through to everybody, especially the players. New players are not going to be painted a pretty picture by the players when they first come into the club, which will be a huge influence on them more than what the management could do - they've all been here long enough to know exactly what the craic is with this club so it's no surprise we have a 'toxic' dressing room. We know the players we've got are good on paper, if unproven - with the exception of maybe Thauvin who came off the back of a poor season and is a risk - but the likes of Wijnaldum, Mitro and Mbemba have lit up their divisions before coming here.

The fans needs stop directing flak to individual Ashley pawns and every fan needs to direct it straight to him and keep making serious waves to get him out of OUR f***ing club.

all due respect but Ashley certainly hasn't pulled out his wallet. this comes from the profits the clubs already made.

I stand corrected, yet another reason to ignore his pawns and target him directly. Get him to watch his letterbox.

Even  if you're 25/26, at 27/28 you can still be moved on and i'm okay with that.

But a side that's struggled for goals only signing a 20 year old, from Belgium with a history of disciplinary problems is lunacy.

True you can be moved on but its less likely isnt it. Payet is storming the league for West Ham, say they make the top 6 is he that likely to leave being 29 next year as opposed to if he were 23? Perhaps if the likes of city or someone else throw money at him, but your odds of losing the player are far smaller & the likelyhood of them having the experience to push your club on is higher. Thus you keep quality players for longer who can help your side compete.

If he helps make them a top 6 side, the entire status of their club goes up. The potential to bring in better players even when hes gone goes up, the potential to keep players with potential goes up. The potential to make more money in the league, in cups, in europe goes up. But ofcourse they might lose 5+ million on the transfer itself.

Realistically we're signing this young because we'll make more money on them if they individually do well & thats easier than getting a whole group of players to compete higher up the league. Which shows what our priority is, its not improving our clubs standing.

I agree with what you're saying. Wham, Palace and co. care about the teams performances this season.

None of them are examples of good scouting, though. They were all no brainers for the price.

And, by the way, we're in the relegation zone.

Yes I've noticed. Whether they were good scouting on not is immaterial. They were his recommendations and that is his job.

As I say we're in the shit now as we haven't invested in the players he has recommended consistently enough and we have also sold our best players too readily

I'd get rid of Carr, his players and choice of manager are not good enough.

Agree need to get id of the whole lot but unfortunately fat cunt won't

Mbemba was class today, Mitro has big potential and Gini speaks for himself. If we invest near enough to the top of this fella's lists we'll be fine.

* Thauvin might be a slow burner!

They might be good players individually but they don't necessarily add up to a good team. Pardew could previously absolve himself of any responsibility saying he wasn't in charge of recruitment, but someone down the line has got to say yes this is what we need. Whether that's Carr, McClaren or Charnley, someone is making the decision.

Need dominant CB - signs Mbemba - tormented by Bolasie and Wickham in the air, on the ground, wherever. Made zero impact to defensive solidity.

Need a CM that can make things happen - signs Wijnaldum - soon move to LM - soon becomes the invinsible man

Need a winger - signs a #10 - who happens to be shit

Needs a goalscorer - signs a21 year old from the Belgium league

Get him out please. Have Ashley is #1 culprit, this guy & Charnley charged at #2, SMC at a pathetic #4
