'Newcastle Fans United For Plymouth Argyle'

I'd hate to see them go bust, even if it is Peter Reid at the helm. They were first-rate when we clinched the title and despite their own demotion allowed us to celebrate.

Nothing against Plymouth Argyle, but I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would want to donate their hard earned cash to a commercial organisation like a football club, when it could go to any other more worthy causes, cancer, Africa etc. If they are that badly off anyway, peoples cash would more than likely end up paying off creditors ie the taxman, footballers wages, outstanding transfer fees.

Cancer and Africa don't have an advert with Paul Whitehouse in it.

It's not to say people don't donate to other causes too though is it...

Clearly people are entitled to do what they want with their money, and this is just my opinion.

But, how much is a Newcastle United fund likely to raise? £1000 tops? Theyve got a £17m debt, its not even the tip of the iceberg. I'm no bankruptcy expert but I doubt it would make any difference to whether or not they go under and if they do, the money just goes to creditors such as the taxman, football agents, and other clubs to settle transfer debts.

Plymouth seem like a nice club, and I hope they pull through but in my opinion if people want to do something worthwhile football related, give it to the SBR foundation, football foundation etc.

That's a pretty silly attitude, imp. You could reduce activism on anything to "there are bigger problems". I do donate to such causes e.g. am member of Amnesty International, but I also have a personal interest in football, and wouldn't like it if a club like Plymouth went out of business. A football club is also clearly different to a normal company, serving the community and being v important to a lot of people. Plymouth is particularly relevant to a lot of toon fans because of that night last year.

It's like lending money to a mate. Clearly other people could use it more, but you have a personal interest in your mate.

Should I stop donating my old clothes to Africa because I'll never clothe them all? Or stop donating money to Africa because that's an on-going thing that will always demand money. People are entitled to donate money where they see fit and those who were at Plymouth and even the likes of me who wernt have the utmost Respect for what they done in our moment of glory and their relegation. Just remember what Newcastle means to us, it's more than just the players and the managers and the shite puma kits,  it's life for many which may sound canny sad but it's true, same applies to Plymouth I imagine

I make a monthly donation to Cancer Research and also to the NSPCC. I witnessed Plymouths unbelieveable hospitality towards us last year despite their obvious devastation at being relegated that night so will make a one off donation to them as my way of saying thank you.

Africa has had trillions of dollars of aid given to it for decades.  And what good has it done?  Less than nothing.  Money spent on presidential palaces and weapons used in civil wars.  Oxfam money going on teaching terrorism in Palestine, food aid feeding families of 15 with no hope of ever self-sustaining.  Bob Geldof has done pretty nicely out of Africa too, not to mention the chuggers who earn a fortune feeding off our guilt.

But yeah, fuck Plymouth Argyle.  Fuck english people, carry on pouring our money down the drain that is Africa.  It's not like our money couldn't be wasted any more flagrantly by these 'charities'

Charity starts at home, Plymoth Argyle were magnificent when we got promoted.  How do you donate?
