And before froggy asks about Thiago, we return to training next Monday, so widely expected to be resolved during this week. There's no formal offer from ManU but it is understood that they'll just agree a contract with Thiago and then pay up the clause.

Mario Gomez to Fiorentina for 16M + 4 bonuses (Euros).

Unbelievably good deal for Fio. Gomez will score 20+ league goals....can't understand why Gomez insisted on Fiorentina instead of CL offering Napoli.

Must be the wages offered...

He'd be an absolute mug to move there. He broke in to the England squad at Norwich last season, why regress to playing dead rubber CL games and domestic cup competitions knowing you'll never be #1 as Courtois will come back if needed next season.

The same John Ruddy that Moyes & Chris Woods thought wasn't on the same level as Iain Turner. Good luck David De Gea  :yao:

Anyway, this happened:

This trend of the money clubs just buying loads of decent young players and pretty much leaving them to rot is getting annoying.

They don't want Ruddy because they think he might become the next great keeper, they just recognise that they need a few English to meet all the various home-grown rules, and 2nd choice goalkeepers are prime candidates for such positions. Ross Turnbull, Stuart Taylor, etc etc.

From what I've heard of the places, I think I'd rather live in Florence than Naples.

And the purple kits, obviously.

The point is he could go somewhere and get games but instead they'll flash the cash at him, stick him on the bench at best and it's just another potentially decent player who's lost a couple of years of his development.

Kone  :anguish:

Solid signing for yous, no?

He's an ok player but it's a terrible signing financially. We can't afford to sink £5m on a 30 year old and not see a penny of the fee back. Heard he's going to be on 40/50k a week too.

Everton are skint aren't they?

They're not a big spender by any means, but I have to think they have more resources than Wigan. And should be able to attract higher quality players.

Oh yeah, better off than Wigan obviously. And also benefiting from the massive PL TV deal now. But overall they have been very careful with money for a long time now.
