Guest Obi
Let's all just keep calm, wait until the New Year and see what the League table looks like then. Martin interesting Spuds, Bolton and fans of other clubs pushing for Europe all name us as their rivals for that spot. Do you all base it on us getting a new manager or are you all deluded? TBH Obi, at the start of the season I thought the top 6 would be Manure, Chelsea, Scum, Scousers Spurs and Newcastle (in no particular order). I hope I'm wrong but I don't think Newcastle will get anywhere near threatening for a top 6 spot right now. In a previous thread, I said for the 8 matches from Chelsea to the end of the year you'd get 12 pts. You got 3 against Brum but, right now, I can't see Newcastle picking up another win. Without Owen you're struggling to score, Villa will be fighting just as much as you, I reckon that will be goalless. The rest I think you'll lose. No bother mate, interesting to get an impartial view from outsiders. I've asked other fans of the clubs expected to be challenging and they all expect us to start climbing the table when players return and they all point to the one huge difference, Owen. Maybe they're all deluded? Who knows.
Martin Lol
I expect Newcastle to perform a lot better too when Owen returns, a more important injury IMO was Taylor's. When he was playing the centre of defence looked a lot more secure than it does now. Wigan reserves had something 21/22 shots at goal and a dozen on target. I'm damned convinced that wouldn't have been the case if Taylor had been playing.

Martin Lol
Having just through the remaining matches of 2005, my guess is that the league table on 1st January will be: 1. Chelsea 51pts 2. Man Utd 41pts 3. Arsenal 40pts 4. Tottenham 39pts 5. Liverpool 38pts 6. Wigan 32pts 7. Blackburn 29pts 8. Man City 28pts 9. Charlton 28pts 10. West Ham 27pts 11. Bolton 26pts 12. Middlesbrough 26pts 13. Aston Villa 20pts 14. Newcastle 19pts 15. Fulham 19pts 16. Everton 17pts 17. West Brom 15pts 18. Portsmouth 15pts 19. Birmingham 13pts 20. Sunderland 5pts I've tried to have an honest guess at all of the matches, may be totaly wrong but if I'm anything close to being accurate, it makes pretty depressing reading. Ive stuck up for souness in the past, but I believe he's had enough time and although hes improved the quality of the squad he hasnt produced enough on the pitch. You point out that we're not too far behind European spots which is true enough but we're currently sitting in the bottom half of what is essentially a poor league. Even with our injury record I believe that we shouldve got more points from the likes of West Ham, Everton and Fulham, we've also bowed out of 2 cup competitions against beatable oppostion. We havent looked like creating many chances and always look like conceding. Have you seen something in our performances that gives you reason for optimism? Are you really this stupid or is it an act? Nobody is this stupid I hope. So not only Souness shiit, he's responsible for injuries, the logic on here is simply top class

Guest groundhogdaze
Nice to see everybody looking at the positives and getting behind the manager. Wenesday was just awful - however we were short of probably 5 - 6 first teamers and half of those on the park were forced to play out of position. Souey's spent £50m so lets sack him and get another manager in. Give him £50m and sack him in 18 months as well. Whats the time limit now at SJP for "success" 1 month. 10 games? FFS could we lay off with the negativity. With a fully fit squad we should give most teams a run for their money. If Souey fails with a full squad then fine, sack him, but get real. Up to now he's fielded walking wounded and kids played out of position.

Guest groundhogdaze
Solano, Bowyer, Zog, Luque (who is far from match finess) all played out of position. Shearer - no service or support (Luque). Missing - Carr, Taylor, Dyer, Owen, Babayaro. Our reserves - Brittain, Chopra, Elliott Put it into perspective ffs. If we can only judge the manager when hes got a fully fit squad then we'll be waiting an awful long time. Managers earn their money when they've got to shuffle things around to cope with injuries and suspensions. Wednesday night we lined up with 5 current internationals who have played whenever fit and Wigan changed their entire team. Players were out of position when they didnt need to be, it was a good chance to try Ramage at centre back, yet he was on the right, elliot in the middle and zoggy on the left! Here's a puzzle, try to see how many round pegs fit into round holes: Given, Ramage, Boumsong, Elliott, N'Zogbia, Bowyer, Parker, Solano, Emre, Shearer, Luque. Subs: Harper, Clark, Faye, Brittain, Chopra. I'll give you a clue, it's less than 5 or 6.
Wullie
We weren't just beaten either. We were battered - and we had our 4 first choice midfielders out.
