NG32
Since when are players signed on rolling contracts? Since big players who are burnt out and still want a pay day and realise they can no longer get a BIG contract.
Guest BooBoo
Since when are players signed on rolling contracts? Does it not probably mean a one year deal with the option of a second if he performs well a la Kluivert or Fat Sol?

TherealnorthernTOON
As much as I would like sturridge here thats for sure a no go. What would the rest of the clubs stars say if we signed a player with 60-70k per week? Just when we've started with the wage cap for stars to be approx around 50k a week. Doesn't seem to harm the team spirit having Coloccini on those wages. If they're worth it i think we should sanction big wages, even if it is just on one player. Even then having a complete waste of space like Smith on big wages was a non-issue.
Colos Curls
Seriously what an entirely predictable turn of events. What really irks me is that the 35m is the only money we have, what outlay would we of had if we hadn't sold carroll? They can't claim that the new lads wages and agent fees have pretty much spent that 35 mil, it's pretty sickening watching them slowly but surely do what they always seem to do now. One more to join us I reckon and that's us done until January when we can expose some more contract loopholes, wonder what championship/league 1 players they have lined up. Yes a lot of that post is sarcastic but still I'm kinda fed up with them.

Yes, but Colo and Smith got those contracts/wages back in 2008 and 2007 respectively, pre-relegation and everything since. You think Colo will get anywhere near his current wage when its time to renew? Its also why they cant give smith away, as he wont go anywhere else as he wont get the money. TherealnorthernTOON
What Johnon293 said. And as everybody agrees around here Tiote is as important to our midfield as Coloccini is to our defence as Ben Arfa is to our attack. Wouldn't it be fair to pay them the same kind of wages if someone in the same bracket came in on a higher wage?
