clintdempsey
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2023434/Newcastle-want-Erik-Pieters-PSV-replace-Jose-Enrique.html Alan Pardew has made a personal check on Holland left back Erik Pieters as he lines up a replacement for Jose Enrique. Spanish left back Enrique is expected to leave Newcastle for Liverpool this week in a £5.5m deal. Newcastle boss Pardew flew out to watch Pieters, 22, play for PSV Eindhoven in their 3-1 defeat at AZ Alkmaar. Pardew wanted to check on Pieters’ fitness as he recovers from a pre-season knee injury. He came off the bench to play the second half in PSV’s defeat. Pardew also took the chance to watch PSV striker Ola Toivonen. He is also interested in Tottenham’s Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch. Pardew expects to finalise Gabriel Obertan’s move from Manchester United on Monday.

AyeDubbleYoo
Pieters sounds like a good player, anyone seen much of him?
Ginola
If he's anywhere near as good as our last signing from Holland, I'll be delighted.
Beren
Optimistic, but wouldn't mind a cheeky bid for Emanuelson since AC Milan aren't using him all that much.
The Prophet
Isn't he more of a winger these days?
Beren
Yeah, he is very attacking, but started at LB (IIRC!) and still plays there from time to time.
The Prophet
Personally wouldn't feel comfortable with him at left back.
Ikon
I hope we don't consider or keep looking almost one year more before we make it happen.

Guest BooBoo
Davide Santon? Good shout! I'm glad we didn't get Wayne Bridge. Not only is he way past his best but he also comes across as a right Billy Big Bollocks. His lass was wittering in the papers today saying how romantic he was by saying that he would use his status to get Harvey Nichols to open late so they could choose an engagement ring without being pestered. Wayne, here's a heads up: you are not David Beckham.
MyPalAl
Davide Santon? Aye, I bet we end up with him.......
