Cabaye has been playing as one for months now.

Yh and i find that a problem because he simply isnt one, its a case of square pegs in round holes to get by. Id rather have a specialist DM to back up Tiote if possible and allow Cabaye to play his natural role.

I want to know how much the Cabaye role is instruction, and how much is frustration at not seeing as much of the ball as he'd like so drops deeper to get involved more.

Either way its a result of Front foot fotball, so Pardew is responsible. Just a question of direct or indirect effect.

Thats not adapting, thats hiding

Either way, he should be finding himself further up the pitch. We are not seeing the best of him, but I do agree its a bit early to decide whether he is doing this on his own or has been deployed this way. For all the stick Pardew gets, I`ll wait a bit with nailing him with this one.

An interview with Cabaye would probably answer alot,or dare I say it, a cheeky question on twitter  :crazy2:

Whey whatever you want to call it, I just meant that he didn't have the athleticism to go box-to-box all the time (yet).

Either way he was brought here hopefully to mimic what he was doing at Lille, which is a far cry from what he is doing for us at the moment.

If he is not meant to sit that deep, Pardew would have called him out on it and told him to move further up the field. He hasnt, and despite the fact that Cabaye has been remarkably mediocre for the past few months pardew still hails him as a pivotal player for us, leading me to suspect he is doing excactly what Alan wants him doing. We cant know for sure though - yet.

Interesting stat comparison of our wingers, might explain some of what Pards has been seeing.

I assume the 'possession won in defence' stat is the one you're pinpointing.

With the 4-4-2 that we usually play, the wide men are expected to help the full backs. It hints at what lots of us have speculated on - that either Hatem needs to adjust (and I don't think he's that bad at defending), or he needs to play further forward (didn't seem to work too well) or we change to a 4-3-3.

Yep. From that i read it as potentially a lot of the choice being made for the right wing being based around whos best at helping out Simpson.

I've had/seen a few personal informations on him today...

In fact, as I'm doing my internship in the Ministry of Sports in Paris, I share my office with someone who is in charge of the high level professional sports and she showed me the access to the French sportsmen personal details...

She asked me if I wanted to enter/know things about a sportsman I liked and chose Ben arfa.

I thought I was going to see HBA's adress in Newcastle but there was just this former one in Lyon and a number.  :hmm: Shame they didn't update it!

For the others informations, haveto keep them secrete...

But I've seen others profile with true informations like the ones of Ribéry or Tony Parker (French famous basket-ball player)...

Didn't he play in a midfield 3 for Lille?  Sure there were interviews saying he had never (or at least rarely) played in a conventional 4-4-2 before.

Boss Hopes French Fancy Hatem

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Alan Pardew has tipped Hatem Ben Arfa to play a big part for Newcastle between now and the end of the season - and possibly even break into France's Euro 2012 squad.

The forward has made 19 appearances this season for the Magpies, but only five of those have been in the starting line-up for Premier League fixtures.

He came off the bench at half-time last weekend against Sunderland and was outstanding in a wide right role as United came from behind to secure a point in the Tyne-Wear derby.

Now Pardew hopes Ben Arfa can finish the campaign on a high, starting at Arsenal on Monday night, and believes the 25-year-old can add to his eight international caps for Les Bleus.

"You have to deserve the starts. You have to earn the right to deserve to start," said the boss.

"And he (Ben Arfa) deserved the right to come on at half-time (against Sunderland) because his training has picked up significantly.

"Around the corner for Hatem is the European Championships, and I wouldn't rule him out of that. So if I'm not ruling him out of that, I'm not going to rule him out of my team.

"He's beggining to understand what you need to do to play at Newcastle. He was magnificent on Sunday, and there is a good chance he could play on Monday night."

So, has Pardew finally turned the corner? Hmmm. Guess you could also give credit to Hatem for stepping it up in training as well. Either way, this article does sound positive

Sounds quite reasnonably, according to his latest interview. Where he stated he just found the love for the game again. Hope he picks himself up and drives us to 5th place finish!

Starting on Monday then. Hope that if we do get defeated and threaten the goal little he won't use it as an excuse to put Raylor back in. Need some faith in Ben Arfa and give him starts.

I really hope he starts for now on then, he is basically our Messi ffs a run of starts and it will be better for all involved......

As for France i dont see why not if he impresses, Blanc loves him and its not like the players in the positions he plays are any better or in better form..... France could play a similar system to how we play.

Lloris

Debuchy Rami Sakho Abidal

Ben Arfa Cabaye M'Vila Ribery

Benzema

Giroud
