I notice nobody stuck up for Stu when IP called him a c***

Just rename this the meltdown thread and be done with it.  That's what it'll be for the next few weeks anyway.

Bit harsh on him, didn't see him in this thread last night.

He's been very fortunate with how the results have fallen in terms of fan reaction:

- Last minute winners send a crowd home a lot happier than scoring in the first minute and winning 1-0

- Home results seriously influence fan reaction whilst away ones barely scratch the surface. Certainly not the majority but I know ST holders who pay almost no attention to away games and certainly don't watch them

- We've lost more home games than the vast majority of teams but also won more. For most people at home in a lot of games, a draw might as well be a defeat so it can feel like our home form is rosy when it's anything but - a couple more draws and we'd be nearly home and dry

- In my experience, there's usually some sort of watershed desolate performance at home that is the one to turn the crowd but not against the mackems or a hammering off Man Utd, it's typically a feeble attacking performance in amongst a bad run against a side that everyone has expected to turn up and beat. For Robson it was 1-1 against Wolves (again, at home a draw and defeat nearly interchangeable), for Souness it was 1-0 against Blackburn, Roeder had 1-0 defeats against Sheff Utd and then Man City whilst Allardyce's home draw with Derby did more to see him off than any other result (although a couple of ludicrous hammerings off Pompey and Liverpool didn't help tbf). Even two of the greatest home wins in our PL history couldn't save Hughton from f***ing idiots baying for his blood after a couple of insipid home games, nor could winning at Arsenal and Everton. Yet apart from Reading (major discontent immediately followed by a load of new signings at which point most people shut up), Pardew has somehow managed to skate round these results. Swansea and West Ham, the form wasn't terrible and a couple of injuries got him a pass before QPR, Wigan, Southampton, Stoke and Fulham all seen off at home despite being largely s**** in every game.

Maybe I'm over-analysing but I reckon he could easily have more points on the board and yet be under far more pressure. Couple more away wins, couple of home defeats having become draws but also a couple less extremely late winners at home and far more would have turned against him imo. People are daft.

That's an excellent analysis. Personally the first time I seriously wanted him out was after the Reading game, but then along came the new signings and things improved for a while.

The worry since then is that rather than the new players pulling up the performance level of those around them , they've been gradually dragged down to the shit we've been playing all season, which strongly suggests something very wrong behind the scenes.

The mackem defeat put me firmly in the out camp again. Wouldn't 100% rule out him turning it around from here, but it would need significant changes and the odds are very much against him now.

Have some faith with Pardew. Everton stood by Moyes when they finished 17th ....and so should we. In the long run we will become a more consistent team.

IP - Don't quit now man, we're surely not THAT far off getting rid of this clueless t*** for good (Pardew). You need to be here to celebrate.

Like the need to specifically indicate Pardew as the clueless twat.

Stay around, IP. You are one of the better posters in this forum.

Faith doesnt deliver results, comparing Pardew and Moyes is a laugh. Moyes obviously has a style and vision , Pardew on the other hand has a group of flair players playing 1990's english football.

How do you justify having a manager that is backward thinking to the players we are bringing in??

If we had alan smith , barton, nolan and Carrol here i think we would probably be higher up the table this tells you what serious mismatch in personalities we currently have.

Alan Pardew is a quack and deosn;t deserve his time here anymore , holding the player back with both his hands and his feet.

The Moyes stuff really doesn't stand up imo as Everton really had a shit team, where as we don't.

How did he manage to get them into 4th? Was that the year when Liverpool were utter dross except for 30minutes against AC Milan?

Yes.

It was built on a good start and a lot of 1-0 wins.  Neil has said as well they got hammered quite a few times that season.

Seriously Now Pardew wants to buy players to solve the mystery of our badly worked set penises??

How useless this c*** can be?? Relying on players yet again to dig himself out of a stat?? Seriously he is scrapping the bottom of the Barrel , tactics is not the problem for set pieces just the personnel?? There must be tons of teams that have softer players then us and still score at set pieces...this guy needs to stop talking. Becoming an A-List Fraud.

Sounds not too dissimilar to how we managed 5th last year (good start, kept it tight, poor competition, even got hammered a few times!). Amazing what you think Moyes could have done this season with this group of players.

The set piece nonsense can easily be blamed on players. We have one player in the side that can win a header. Just look at the rest of them- no one contests with any real aggression.

The delivery has been poor at times but I've seen Cabaye and Marv put in some great balls and no one attacks them with any sort of conviction.

If we're fair, we've actually scored from two set pieces in our last time league games. Fulham saw a handball on the line and Mackems saw Cisse score.

That would mean Pardew is the genius and has spotted why we are absolutely rubbish at set pieces.

You must watch very little football to be spouting this nonsense, many teams in Europe that has softer players still has more threat in their pieces.

The problem is the ideas, the organization and routines are so poor or non exsistant in his coaching that it also shows up in our open play.

those comments about sunderland are just embarrassing.  It's areet for fans on a message board to point those things out, but not the f***ing manager.

He's having a Brucey breakdown IMO.

He's more and more Bruce by the day

Aye, fucking Forsyth.

At this point Forsyth would probably be a more viable option

Anything for a good game, good game.

Just read his set pieces comments on twitter. Unbelievable! He sounds like someone managing a Sunday league team, not a manager who has full  time players training all week and has time to work on them. The problem isn't 'not enough big men'. It's the poor deliveries, but most of all the terrible movement in the box. It's awful. That should be worked on on the training ground. Its one of the basic jobs of a manager to sort set piece routines. The fact this fraud can't even see this says it all.

His Sunderland comments are pathetic too. About all the times we've had it over them now its their turn or something. No Alan. Thats 5 derbies now and only 1 win. Don't pretend you've had some kind of dominance over them. You haven't.
