Another one with high hopes that didn't really amount to much.

Matt Jansen

An English footballer, who plays as a striker and currently plays for Chorley. He started his career with hometown club Carlisle United, and also played for Crystal Palace, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers as well as a loan spell with Coventry City. He won six England under 21 caps. He is currently player-coach for Northern Premier League Premier Division side Chorley, where his former Blackburn Rovers team mate Garry Flitcroft is manager. Jansen is, perhaps, best known for his stint at Blackburn which earned him legendary status at the club.

Jansen's downfall is partly his own fault for riding a scooter when all footballer's are forbidden to do stuff like that and it's for a good reason.

Dario Silva

Made his name in Europe with Malaga between 99-03 averaging 1 in 3, before spells at Sevilla & Portsmouth. Was linked with a move to Newcastle after the 2002 World Cup after appearing for Uruguay. Crashed his pick-up truck in 2006, fracturing his skull and needing an amputation below the knee.

Took part in a charity match in 2009 after a 3 year absence, scoring a penalty against an Argentina XI. Aimed to make it to the 2012 Olympics as a rower, but nothing came of it.

I had a soft spot for him tbh.

He ripped tore Aust's WC ambitions to shreds one time, in Montevideo (i think he scored a double in that 2nd leg).

Good player who never put together back-to-back seasons, and didn't get going in Europe.

He was a master diver. However he was cool looking cat while doing it - he wasn't cursed with Suarez love-to-hate mug. The dude had some style. From sleek looking skinhead, to longer ringlet peroxide locks, to peroxide buzz-cut.

Aging pretty well too, and comes across as a very earthy & down-to-earth guy. Looking fighting fit.

Yep, one of the very few times I've wept genuine tears over a football match. He thoroughly schooled us that day in 2001, and I was devestated...

Christoph Waltz played international football for Croatia during the 00's? That's pretty f***ing random.

Júlio César Santos Correa.

After early spells at Honduran side CD Marathón and Real Valladolid, signed for Real Madrid, where he won the 2000 Champions League. Then moved to AC Milan. Then via a spell at Real Sociedad, went to Benfica. Then to Austria Wien. Back to Real Valladolid. Next came a dodgy transfer to Bolton, where he was dropped in favour of Radhi Jaidi. Hopped back to South America for a spell at Tigres de la UANL before returning for a successful spell at Olympiacos and a poor one at Dinamo Bucharest. After this he went to Gaziantespor before signing and not playing a game for Maritimo. Played in the 11th country of his career at Sporting Kansas City, where he won the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, before signing for Toronto in the January transfer window.

Joseph Desires a Job scored a fucking glorious overhead kick in the UEFA cup for Middlesbrough, one of my faves ever.

Moritz Volz was alright wasn't he? Seem to remember saying he'd be a decent squad player.

Good list though  is that Bianchi from Lazio?

"One job on Teesside, there's only one job on Teesside" - classic.
