It'd be the same over here really, you've just extended the season for a pointless mini tournament for the majority of teams/fans. 9 out of 30 MLB teams have currently gone more than 5 years without making the postseason. 4 out of 30 NBA teams have gone 5 or more years 3 (not counting Winnipeg) out of 30 NHL teams have gone 5 or more years. 6 of 32 NFL teams have gone 5 or more years.
