Players coming out the woodwork praising pardew after 2 decent wins. It always happens.

It's the same as Pardew coming out praising Shola. It means nowt. Waffle.

;D

''So what do you think of the manager''

''He's useless marra''

The comments are fine, they shouldn't be saying anything different but the fact you're all eating it up is weird.

The next two home games will show if we've learned how to play offensive football, trying to break lesser teams down. Which i doubt we have.

A narrow win and a draw is what i expect.

i can't bear the thought of us huffing and puffing and toiling to get past parked defences man, fills me with absolute :anguish:

would rather watch our away games, at least pardew has sort of a clue how to approach them

We might win against Norwich and WBA with the same team (apart from Debuchy missing the 1st) but we're, well Pardew is going to make it so much harder going in with the same setup as against the better sides where we had the right players to put in a solid display defensively and most of all players that are very capable of effective counter attacking.

The next two teams we play will require another tactic to break down imo. I'd gladly be proven wrong though.

Norwich aren't solid defensively and West Brom don't usually sit back for 90 mins even away from home. I'd love to see Ben Arfa play a part obviously but the balance of the team is good at the moment. I fear that if we play him, not only our right flanks will be exposed but our attacking tactics will be "Keep calm and pass to Benny"

he'll not start shola in those 2 games will he, surely?

Dunno to be honest, you would like to think not. We definitely find it more difficult against the teams who defend. HBA seems a must.

we're back to where we started though aren't we?  he hasn't a fucking clue how to use HBA properly

Not sure that's quite true, I think it's more that he values the defensive contribution of other players. Hopefully he'll decide to take a bit more of a risk in these upcoming games, Norwich at least.

i mean when the other team turn up and close down HBA pardew never, ever has a response or a different tactical approach to exploit it - hull was the prime example

Which is why we are back to where we started. Solid defensive line up with a big man up front. Anything else would require a lot of coaching on movement and possession of the ball for a start. He's not that type and neither are any of his coaching staff. But at least the last couple of weeks has confirmed that we have some quality footballers here and if we can get them working to a plan they can beat anybody on their day.

It's a wonder we think he's a good player then, isn't it?

He's used him very well in the past. Even to the point where people would comment that he was in the form of his career. That's slipped recently, but there's not much reason to suspect he can't get back to that level.

i don't know, it's almost like opposing teams analysed how we played with HBA then took countermeasures to prevent him from having an impact instead of letting him skip past them at will and score goals

i'm referring of course to lower-mid table teams coming up to SJP

last time it happened pardew had nothing in his locker, hopefully they've been working on it since hull
