bhoywhonder
Seriously, over Depay? Ridicushit decision. All about the Advocaat link I would imagine....if he ends up in that sh*thole, his agent should be fired into the centre of the sun.

Guest
Johnson, Downing, Cattermole, Graham...McClaren would be proud.
Teasy
After Downing and seemingly turned down by Jenkinson. So much for their £50m spending spree we're in no place to throw stones We throw plenty of stones at our own club on here (and rightly so), don't see why we shouldn't do the same to others. Stifler
They have bid £11m for Wijnaldum.

Guest
He's been strongly linked with PSG & Marseille in France. Imagine if us signing Thauvin lead to Sunderland missing out on Wijnaldum because he's replacing him?
joeyt
Sunderland could be snubbed by Liverpool defender Tiago Illori because the city is "too cold" (Sunderland Echo)

Peppe
After Downing and seemingly turned down by Jenkinson. So much for their £50m spending spree we're in no place to throw stones Knowing us, we'd probably sell them for profit instead...

Andy84
Apparently close to signing Downing. Now aged 30 you can trust the mackems to put him on a huge 4-5 contract

Stifler
I don't get it, why do they keep going for old players on expensive wages? If they are signing him then I think that means they don't see Johnson's court case ending well.
nufc4eva
How have they not gone bankrupt signing players over 26. Think it's a good signing tbh, quite like downing or did anyway. Even at 30 prob has 4 or 5 years in him, solid signing

Even at 30 prob has 4 or 5 years in him, solid signing I'm guessing it's due to the Sky TV deal(s) To be honest the fact we have to stop relegation every season, coupled with that we're in an unattractive part of the country means we go one of two ways when signing players. a) We sign young, hungry players who see us as a stepping stone and replace them with proper planning in place OR b) we rely on loans and those on their last legs or not wanted by anyone else. Brown, O'Shea etc. It's the way it is now. No one will ever get close to the elite

I'm not trying to be funny but we managed to sign a few hungry players soon after we came up, Stoke manage to do decent. Stoke is tauter like you, not exactly a club anyone without any affiliation towards the club would jump at he chance to go too and not in a desirable area. However Stoke is near Burmingham which may sway players and you are close to Newcastle which could sway players. As much as Sunderland are our rivals you should be doing better. There are smaller clubs in fairly undesirable areas coming in to the Premier League which have out done you. You can't keep blaming the blame game, yes some players won't see past London or mega unrealistic wages, but you should be getting better than what you get. You only have your board and your DOF who has links to some of the dodgiest agents in the game to blame.
