Wasn't sure how it would go on here, tbh.

Dickheads on both sides, unfortunately - but most mackems don't seem to realize this. It's a sad state of affairs when Northumbria Police have decided to penalize both sets of genuine fans, because of druken radgies who weren't even at the match.

Any more bother come Feb, and they'll be after banning away fans again like they did in the mid 90's. :(

So incensed by what I said he quoted it 4 times!!

:hello: * waves to lurking boat burners

Oh they are reading.

So then do they care to explain about youtube videos that show them trying to take down a dividing wall between supporters, failing and then proceeding to ransack a police riot van?

How about the trouble they caused at Central station a few years ago?

How about the seats we have to replace after we play them as they have ripped them out and thrown them at our fans below?

This is the truth. A lot of dickheads let our side down last April, not for the first time, but this bubble trip stems from nexus request to protect their property after a tough few months keeping metros on the line for other reasons. Did we have a bubble trip earlier in the season? Surely if the police thought it was our fault then our first game travelling would be done like this, and after April I'd have agreed it should be done.

I do though find it funny how for ages they go on how hard they are then cry when some sort of restriction is put on them. Sure it's the same ones as well for example that ginger monstrosity dirty Bristow.

Do they have another forum available to them where the decent fans can talk or is that it? Get mixed in with the dross and get called a mag whenever anything sensible is posted.

Truth is both sets of fans need to be policed, too many dickheads using football as an excuse to be a cunt. I hope it's a regular thing tbh, both ways, act like kids get treat like one. There have been too many incidents over the years for anyone to call it a one off.

Still think the Nexus story sound the most credible reason, and who can really blame them if they've got to repair and clean up the carriages every year.

There was no ban, there was going to be so our club arranged it that our fans could see the match via a jumbo screen, then the ban didn't go through but we still didn't take up our allocation and didn't give Sunderland an allocation in the return fixture.

The rivalry has been unhealthy for a while. Neither side has anything to play for so the two derbies take on even more importance resulting in radgies being even radgier.

Not saying they're the only ones, but you just need to see the bile spouted on RTG to see how bad it's got. There's genuine hatred on there for Newcastle supporters from some of their lot (and I bet some of our dafter fans feel similar about them).

I don't know how you can get through the day feeling that strongly about another bunch of people because of football. Pathetic doesn't quite do it justice. Yeah, I want to see us hammer the Mackems whenever we play them and I'd love them to sink through the league but I don't hate them or their fans. My best man was a Mackem.

There was a ban. None of wor lot for the game at their place in 95/96 (Beardsley and an OG in a 2-1 win) and I'm sure there were none of their lot at the return at St James. I remember it being beamed at the Arena though.

Read what I said. There was going to be an official ban but in the end there wasn't and we didn't take our allocation and we didn't offer an allocation to them in the return fixture. There was no official ban. There was going to be though.

I've got red and white mates as well, and an Uncle (not blood!) who is one too. It's all good natured bar on a derby day, but that's only to be expected.  Dunno what it is with some folk, particularly the young'uns who have never been to a game in their lives. Probably more just an excuse to act the arsehole, as has been previously said.

I've come to realise RTG just isn't a true representation of them (I like to think more are like Hithere and they just get bullied out on that forum for being sensible) I work all day with mackems, have friends who are mackems and they are nothing like that baying lot over there. The only thing that really separates me from them is their silly accents.

RTG does their image no favours imho.

Dropped off at the stadium or running the gauntlet from Central, I know which one sounds better to me. Arguing against something been done for your own and the general public's safety is mental.

In fairness it's not like the buses haven't been operating for years now and plenty of fans are happy to use them. You have to sympathise with those charged with maintaining order and safety that one group, rather than lots of dribs and drabs, is a safer option.

They really do seem to be the biggest whingers in football nowadays and some are pretending that an escorted march through Newcastle city centre is a highlight of their season which the big, bad police are now depriving them of.

Don't see what the fuss is about tbh. Derby away trips are pretty much like bubble trips anyway. We don't exactly go round bars in sunderland drinking before the game, they don't in Newcastle. Its not like a normal away day. The advantage of going on the metro is you get an extra hour of drinking time in town before going through. The disadvantage is the overcrowding, dickheads in stone island strutting around pretending to look for bother and afterwards you get held back for over an hour after the buses have gone normally in the sodding rain. From the wailing going on you'd think they were being excluded from a really good party with loads of strippers and free drugs. I'd suggest we all try to concentrate on the positives too, it'll doubtless be same for us next year like it or not.

Much easier to police + safer for their own fans = massive conspiracy. The bit that I'm happiest about is that it will make it fairly pointless for the non attending street urchins to congregate, making us all look bad. The distance travelled in the convoy makes it way too easy for bother to break out and very difficult to police.
