Guest neesy111
Just because the current regime have signed some good players doesn't excuse the lack of ambition they've had in terms of non-signings. We should at least be signing players to replace those who have left.
nufc4eva
We have a good 17 players and the rest are dross - Krul - Debuchy - Mbiwa - Colo - Williamson - Taylor (At least not too bad) - Santon - Haidara - Tiote - Anita - Sissoko - Gouff - Ben Arfa - Marveaux - Remy - *De Jong - *Cisse * Potentially anyway Sammy, Dummet, Campbell, Vuckic, Armstrong maybe have potential but appear a long way off, although Sammy looks improved. BrettNUFC
People still don't accept with have a good squad like Lotus though. Which is going to make him disagree with your point even more regarding Ashley and the squad he has assembled. We've a great squad according to you. I look forward to seeing how our great squad get on. See how they compete with the other great squads. Nestling among the other great squads come May. Hope you're right. You obviously have every confidence and i sincerely hope you're right. I don't think we need Cabaye to finish top 8, think we can cope without him and bring Ben Arfa in to the fold. How many clubs outside the top 6 could remove their best attacking player then replace with someone like Ben Arfa? We've got a good sqaud, not great the likes of Spurs but it's good and i wouldn't be swapping it for anyone outside of top 6, not even Everton. I'd swap their manager mind you
merlin
He's probably just turned us town because he thinks we're a sohower of s**** who are going nowhere fast? Almost certainly this combined with the fact that we probably offered him a smallish wage compared to wht he would get at a better PL club or in Spain/Germany. Why would a player who is highly-rated come to a club like Newcastle United when there is more than a 50/50 chance he could go elsewhere in the summer...? The lack of ambition stories will undoubtedly have travelled to France.... Perhaps Grenier made a phone call to Cabaye? My thoughts exactly.... Good first team maybe, but it's a s*** squad.

Can't understand how people have the brass neck to complain about the constant Portsmouth/Leeds references when it's what is used time and time again to defend these tossers. BrettNUFC
Krul Debuchy Mbiwa Colo Santon Anita Tiote Ben Arfa Sissoko Gouffran Remy Bench: Alnwick, Haidara, S.Taylor, Bigirimana, Marveaux, Sammy, Cisse. Then you've got back up like: Eliot, Dummett, R.Taylor, Gosling, Obertan, Shola...with Jonas/Ferguson/Campbell/Vuckic/Abeid out on loan. Outside the top 6, there's not a squad i'd be looking to swap. BrettNUFC
I stopped reading that rubbish when I saw the CB pairing. On paper they are the best, by a distance. Well bar Taylor for you, he's best on the pitch and paper for you.

Hanshithispantz
"Wait for the right player" at which point another player or 2 have left and we're "waiting for the right player" to replace them too. We've been waiting for a left winger for years When that right one comes across he better be f***ing good. Often waiting 2/3 windows for a replacement to arrive is infuriating for a fan. Waiting for the best deal possible, we could have signed Debuchy for 8 in the summer, wait a few of months then sign for 6 instead. That's how Ashley will always look it, is that good or bad? Opinion would differ between fans. "Bad" is the correct answer fwiw.
Guest alijmitchell
No-one can deny that through utter incompetence and penny-pinching we have a threadbare squad, and are seemingly content selling our best players without any kind of replacement ready. As for the debate on whether you would rather have a better player at a later date than an average player now, it is utter crap. The point is moot - as a healthy, professional and competitive football club, we should have scouted a number of options, and be prepared for the eventually of losing players if that is part of our business plan. What shines through all of this is sheer incompetence from everyone at the club, driven by a lack of desire to dramatically improve the footballing ambitions of the club.
