I remember the mackems going mental over Lee Clark and the SMB t-shirt. I thought we were better than that lot down the road? Give your heeds a shake, FFS.

I think Colback will come in and do a job. Is he the big creative signing we all hope for? Nope, but he's versatile and English and will hopefully improve given time.

What does English have to do with it?

I'm of the belief that we need more young english players in the squad.,

I think we need more good English players In the squad.

We've had English before see Gosling, and nationality is irrelevant if they aren't good enough.

Good English players cost shitloads (there is the rare exception), average English cost a fair bit as well.

Need to either grow our own or continue to let Carr do his thing but with a manager who knows how to use a player.

Being good trumps nationality every single time.

Not arsed about where he was born, who he's played for or how many fingers he's stuck up in a random twitter picture. I'm arsed because I believe him to be deeply average and yet another player signed because he's going cheap/free and he'll fill a gap. May as well have kept Perch ffs.

... and we take a foothold on another rung down the ladder.

Kenwyn Jones and Jack Colback.

Any fan thinking these two are worthy of this club have truly drunk the club's coolaid.

Is the Jones rumour just that or is it a serious bid, I think it might just be a smoke screen whilst we negotiate a deal for a 25 goal a season humdinga

We just got rid of one lazy striker I would rather bring in a Gomis and Ba with Cisse and the Spaniard backing up

What's been said to make everyone so convince he's coming?

I think it was pretty much nailed on before Sunderland did the great escape, with the contract situation you can understand why we'd be keen. He's okay technically from what I've seen, but lacks pace for a top club. I'm not sure where he'd fit  into our side though.

Even Cabaye didn't fit into the Cabaye role he was given at our club. What was it exactly, the 3rd defensive midfielder after Tiote and Anita?

Pinging long passes to the lone striker marked by two defenders doesn't work out so well in the English version of the game.

It's the role he was given. Not my idea mate.

He was initially signed to control possession and the tempo of a game iirc. Feed him the ball as much as possible and let him dictate play - that was the plan that was sold to Cabaye.

I know you are quoting Pardew man, but I think when Cabaye was sold that vision of controlling the tempo of the game pinging long balls in the direction of Cisse wasn't what he had in mind

Colback is perfect for Pardew, works hard and runs all day. He is so going to play left midfield covering our left back.

I threw up in my mouth a little bit then....:(

The abuse, FFS. :D I don't remember this much grief when we signed Bracewel from that lot! Gotta give the lad a chance - assuming he signs.

Bracewell was a major coup at the time I seem to recall, as was Venison and both were excellent signings for us.

I seem to recall Pardew saying "if you control the midfield you control the game" or something like that when signing Cabaye.

Well done Alan.  You passed the theory test but unfortunately killed 3 OAPs at a mini roundabout in the practical.

Plus they both weren't from Newcastle and posing for photos where they were fully aware of what the impact would be. Fuck him fuck his putting off, couldn't give a fuck what type of footballer he is he can fuck off
