Just think that unlike some players and the coaching staff that has gone hiding he has at least gone out and taken on the responsibility to be the face of the failure despite not having been on the pitch. It's a 22 year old who didn't crumble under pressure and carried the side until he was kicked to bits by a Chilean defender. Van der Sar's been advising the Dutch team about their attitude towards it, saying how in 1998 they couldn't be arsed about it at the time, but seeing the Croatian players' pride when getting their medals made him realise that they could show their children those for the rest of their lives.
