The hope is that this is only just the initial wave of supply, and more will be available as time gos on. If the actual club shops are running low, then by the time match day goes get their hands on it later then there will be nothing left. The stock is 'limited edition', if they make a shit tonne of them, then it loses the appeal. You're also not providing any incentive to buy the +membership if the stock is readily available. Those who missed out last time will be more inclined to buy the membership next time. That's before you even get into costing and projections for how many you're going to sell and the consequences of getting it wrong. There has to be a buzz around these things as someone on the last page said. Don't for a second think that Adidas don't know what they're doing. If it's such a no-brainer to release them in this way that creates artificial scarcity then why wouldn't they go the whole hog and do it with kits, training gear etc?
