It's a separate 'retro' release rather than something we'd wear. Can't see the point of it tbh, does it bear any resemblance to anything retro? Think the actual top is nicer, albeit that's probably because it's currently sponsor-less too.

Was just going to say that exact thing. What’s the point of it? The players will never wear it. It’s not a Newcastle shirt, it’s a randomly designed adidas shirt with the Newcastle batch stuck on to sell it to a specific set of fans. No doubt Man Utd, Villa, Celtic etc will have their own version

Why does it need to have a 'point' to it?

Do you think the club should only sell match kits and training wear?

There's been stuff like this for years now. Fashion items vaguely resembling kits.

And I’ve bought none of them. Just my opinion. Don’t like them

Agreed that I find something very odd about those items that are like kits but not. Feels like selling a snide kit to me, don’t get the point. Some people went mad for that faux retro one though so theyve obviously got a market.

I love them because they are designed in the style of mid 80s adidas kits which is my most nostalgic period, so we are getting the Adidas kits we never got offically at that time.

Aye fair dos. Just pointing out that they're to be expected these days.

That black and white stripe one from last year would've been a GOAT kit if it was the real deal.

Also - this and the 2024/25 one look much better than any match worn shirt we've had over the last 30 years, and they don't have some rubbish company emblazoned over the front.

They must appeal to a target market and generate a profit otherwise the kit manufacturers wouldn’t make them.

So that’s the point of it. Dolla dolla bills y’all.

But you’re clearly not in that target market.

Where's this from? Adidas stripes don't have the new thickness so guessing it's a mock-up?

The leaked pictures of them on the beach don’t show the bolder Adidas stripes either. It seems to be very hit and miss if new shirts will have it this season.

My guess is that the trefoil shirts won’t.

Surely it's just:

adidas originals = classic three stripes

New adidas = honking oversized stripes
