Season Ticket holders - HOME/AWAY

Loki called me a scab in another thread actually. Be interesting to know how many games he's attended in the last few years.

I can honestly say I haven't attended a single game since keegan got sacked and I have no intention of doing so until Ashley is gone.

edit:  And the shoe fits, scab.

As someone who hasn't attended a single game for varnigh 7 years I cannot see how you have the brass neck to comment on anything NUFC related at all, much less call people who do attend scabs.

Very childish.

Like Wullie my last game as a season ticket holder was when I walked out against Cardiff. I think I only went to one home game last season and that is my worst season since I started going with my uncle in the late 60'a. I only attended 2 away games because I can't support the club and I don't believe in being able to support the team and not support the regime, that is bullshit. I'd be more than happy to pay more money to watch a team try than the one we've been given, money was never an issue.

I have had a season ticket for over 70% of my life including when I spent the best part of the season 300mi away, next season I won't. Would have gone to some aways in the Championship for novelty, won't bother in the PL.

Not really arsed either.

very interesting reading...

I've gave up my season ticket as off next season, hardest thing (or one of) I've ever done. I don't blame anyone for missing games these days nor do I look down on people who attend.

Everyone has a choice, we all love the club and have different reasons for not going anymore.

My reason is mainly Ashley but also some of this lies with the staff and players, I literally don't look forward to the game anymore.

Heart breaking really!

i feel very similar to you in that last season i was dreading games and wasnt bothered about going

but on the flip side i love the socialising with my family and i love supporting my team. i sing, i shout, i get annoyed and nothing beats the feeling of us scoring and i would hate that not to be a part of my life anymore as it has been since my dad took me when i was 5 years old (im 30 now).

I completely understand people not wanting to go because of personal feelings towards those in charge and such like - and great, thats the way you want it so get on with it but i, like many others will still go and would still go even if we were in the conference

Your last sentence is disingenuous. Most of the people who have walked away would still go in the conference if everyone at the club was trying their best rather than imposing a deliberate glass ceiling for financial reasons.

I'm a similar age to you but my feeling when we score is complete and utter indifference. A goal is a means to an end. When that end is more money for Mike Ashley and nothing else, I can't get excited.

I have to agree with Wullie, when we score these days it's not the same, the feeling isn't of elation it's more relief.

I cant see many fans giving up their season tickets though if I'm honest, most people will say they're going to then renew. I just cant do it anymore, I look at what we're being forced to watch and listen to and enough is enough.

I'm going to follow England for a few seasons and also do some random European games.

It used to be my passion, my life following NUFC... It's now just one big hassle!!!!

I reckon I'll go to 4 or 5 Nice games next season if Hatem's a regular. It's about the same price as travelling to Newcastle as well.

Let me know if you decide to do this I'll come with you without a doubt!

Will do, I know the form after my visit to see him not play last time!

Could quite fancy that also. Maybe take the Hope banner. Who has it these days? Slim?

Season before the one just gone was my last as an ST holder after nearly ten years. Even then I never went to one home game after the Arsenal game (0-1 defeat in December). Went to Leicester away in the cup and Southampton at home the season just gone, the Southampton ticket was free. Never going back under Ashley.

Newcastle United’s big spending summer had more hinging upon it than being able to put out a team that would survive in the Premier League, let alone challenge any higher up the table or in the cups.

The atmosphere at St James Park at the back end of last season was toxic.  There was an organised boycott for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur that saw an official crowd of 47,427, but which in reality was thousands short of that number.

But further, there have been personal pledges from many fans that they would not be renewing season tickets, or going to games, as long as Mike Ashley remained running the show.

This has happened at the end of successive seasons, but there was a real fear that a large number of fans really meant it this time.

Subsequently, a £50m investment in the squad with very little coming back and no top players sold, followed a pledge from Ashley himself that from now on we’d be making our own luck.

This promise and the investment that followed was a real attempt to convince those supporters who were reaching the end of their tether to stick with the club, that Newcastle really would be pushing on.

Unfortunately, the attendance on Saturday against Watford fell 5,000 short of capacity, and although this game was not the draw other visitors might provide, it suggests that the effort may be falling on deaf ears.

This was the fifth time in eleven games that the attendance has dropped below 48,000.

In 30 games prior, attendance had only fallen below that marker twice, supporters showing far more patience with the club than performances warranted.

If the club were going to convince some of those departing fans that they’re missing out, then Saturday was obviously a day to do that.

Unfortunately, Watford left Newcastle with 3 points in their pockets and left Newcastle United with only 1 point from 9 contested at home and 1 goal in 2 games.

None of those casual fans that have decided there’s better things to do with their time and money, will have been swayed to return, and many more might have been swayed the other way.

The visits of Sheffield Wednesday in the cup (cheap tickets) and Chelsea in the league aren’t likely to lead to a further exodus, but the subsequent games against Norwich, Stoke & Leicester yet to go on sale, will need fans to have been galvanised by a tangible improvement in performances if we’re not to see this worrying trend continue.
