Surely it’s going to be mostly empty then?

Hard to say, there are lots of rich idiots out there.

However, it is definitely a possibility that we will see empty stadiums as it is incredibly unwise for anyone who does not present as a white Christian to travel in America at the moment. I wish that was hyperbole but it is really not. The government is snatching people off the street based on appearance, no warrant or process involved, and then the record keeping as far as who gets taken where after being snatched is let's say not great. The supreme court just confirmed the government's right to detain people based on race or appearance as well, so that's looking good.

So, if you're from Morocco or whatever traveling to see a world cup game, you are taking a legitimate risk of being indefinitely detained without cause or any legal recourse to seek release.

We'll see whether that actually gets in the way of world cup fever, but it certainly could.

Brilliant keeper. Also noticed the last couple of seasons he seems to enjoy playing up here against us rather than him letting the rivalry get under his skin like a few years ago. He was superb in the 1-1 up here with them a couple of seasons ago in particular. I was sat just behind him in the Gallowgate and he was non-stop with his defence, shouting over at Dyche with things he was noticing. Was fascinating watching him.

He's improved massively as a whole over the last couple of seasons. Barely makes an error and seems to have matured hugely.

As to why he plays for Everton, IMO it's a good thing that all the players aren't hoarded at the favoured clubs.

Thoughts on the squad?

I kinda like it tbh. It’s refreshing to watch us play and think “we’re really good, but these players were a bit rubbish” and then they just get dropped. I thought Loftus-Cheek was terrible, Lewis-Skelly was unconvincing and Watkins wasn’t up to the level required. There might be other reasons for their omission, but it’s nice to feel the manager sees the same things we do.

I was talking to a Spurs mate the other day and said how defensively sound Spence and Tino would be as full backs. Fuck all would get by them. He then suggested Lewis-Skelly should start

Forgot he existed TBH. Has he been injured? Or does Mikel Pulis just need a minimum of 3 CB’s on the pitch at all times?

Calafiori’s been playing there I believe. I think that’s partly what Tuchel said - that Lewis-Skelly needs to be playing more. The nice thing is that it feels like he wasn’t just saying that on principle - which has happened in the past - but that it was based on how he actually played in the England matches.

Spence is a funny one. When we signed him we expected him to be a marauding RB but his best performances have been as a defensive LB. It definitely feels like Spurs are better-balanced with Udogie on the left, but I thought Spence did everything he could to take the England opportunity. He was really good on the left and dovetailed well with Gordon and Rice, then transitioned really smoothly to the right and looked dangerous albeit against a bad team.

I think Spence’s versatility is perfect for a tournament, and he’s unlikely to get embarrassed by even the best wingers. You do sacrifice width on the left though.

Don't mind the squad at all other than Alex Scott being in there, I've never seen it with him at all, no idea how Bristol City rinsed Bournemouth for 20 odd million and no idea why he's in the squad.

He's one of them young English midfielders who is meant to be really good, similar bracket to McAtee and Harvey Elliott really, but just isn't.
