Guest Howaythetoon
I'm just not convinced with his form at the moment. He's bossing games because he has the time and space to do so. And by level Yorkie, he is clearly a PL footballer, but he's not a very good one as he demonstrated for us and in the main for Swansea. He has ability though and if his attitude and fitness is right then he has a chance. Lets see!
joeyt
I disagree that he was 'not very good in the main for Swansea'. Yes he lost his place before he joined us but he played nearly every game for Swansea in their highest ever Premier League finish under Monk and also achieved most of his England caps when playing for Swansea. Guest firetotheworks
Shelvey was singled out last night and had no space a lot of the time. It made no difference, he did what he wanted.

Agreed, Swansea was where he earned his reputation before he stopped putting the effort in. How you could think he wasn't very good for them is beyond me. Hanshithispantz
This is his level Howay man, he might not go on to boss the Premiership but he's clearly a Premiership player and is only 24.
Guest Howaythetoon
Look I rated him when we signed him and still like some of what he has to offer, but for us he was really disappointing when he signed outside of the WH game and at the start of this season he was poor as well. I've also heard he isn't quite committed to his body shall we say off the pitch although it appears he has been upping his fitness of late. He has a lot still to prove basically, even if he has a stellar season in the Championship.

He was probably set for the Euros if he never fucked up at Swansea. People can obviously argue how good of an achievement that is, but it's probably slightly higher than the Championship. I'm not going to defend him before this season like, he was awful last year and by all accounts he just couldn't be fucked at Swansea, he seems to have sorted his head out though - as even at the start of this season he looked rubbish. Hanshithispantz
I was the opposite tbh, I didn't want him at the time. I think he's shown massive changes under Benitez though and I don't think it's fully down to the competition. He seems like a different bloke. Yorkie
He was absolutely the wrong signing at the time. We were desperate for a centre-mid to come in and be great straight away and Shelvey was never gonna be that player.
Tooj
He was great in his debut tbf.
STM
As always under a good manager, a player has come on leaps and bounds. Rafa has made Shelvey his main man, which is what he needed and he has sorted his fitness out, which was also holding him back. His footballing brain was never in question. I'd argue he's better than any of England's midfielders in that regard. He'd flourish alongside the likes of Henderson who would do the donkey work. He's the best player in this league and he'd be fine in the premiership, if not good.

Leazes_End_Mag
Henderson is awful, a nothing footballer! Careful, people on here will spit their dummies out if you dare to criticise Hendo. He's the reason Liverpool are doing so well apparently...

Guest firetotheworks
That's the thing with this place like. Henderson's underrated. Hurhur, you think Henderson's the reason Liverpool are doing so well. So fucking boring, man.

He is, watch him closely and there isn't an awful lot that he does to impact the game in any meaningful way. I'd want far more from a player in his position. I wouldn't have him anywhere near the England team though.

Guest Howaythetoon
Who would you have had in the last England squad as centre mids then? To clarify I meant starting team. It would be a stretch for me to include him in the squad still.
