Jonjo Shelvey (now playing for Çaykur Rizespor, on loan from Nottingham Forest)

Always seems to make the wrong decision when we’re up against it.

Can’t stand it when a player shoots from like 35 yards out when we’re chasing an equaliser. 99 times out of 100 it hits a defender and they clear.

I can`t think of any of our players making the right decisions lately.

Bit fucking shit the double standards shown between this cunt and Mitrovic like.

Love the way he lazily flicked his leg at a very winnable ball about 30 seconds before he booked himself a weekend off.

Overrated, lazy, liability. He can get fucked.

This.

Probably just as bad as the red-card was trying to shoot from 30 f***ing yards through a wall of Everton players with his left-foot when we had a number of players in advance of him.

He's had far too long at this club. Swansea supporters were right about him.. we knew they were when we signed him.

Totally overrated. Never imposes himself on a game.

I think his sending off was harsh mind but not surprised, all he has to do is just "be there" and he'll get a card.

Should be one of the first out the door in January

He was good in the first half. When we needed him to step up and drive us forward in the second half he was nowhere.

Copy and paste that for;

Merino

Lascelles

Atsu

Ritchie

Gayle

Diame

Lejeune

Manquillo

Yedlin

I thought Yedlin did try and drive us on second half tbh

None of those have been fit and left out of the side to much chagrin on here and in the media. He's meant to be one of if not our best player.

haven't seen the red again but his "performance" was dire anyway. He doesn't even try to get on the ball really, just looks moody

This. Just didn't show for it . Wandered around and whenever the team ran out of options and punted it to him he just attempted one his his 1/10 Hollywood balls. Fucking pointless.

I wouldn't have entertained selling him prior to the season, but he's been so ineffective, making silly decisions and clearly doesn't work in Rafa's system anymore that it's time to move on. Cut our losses on him, Mitro, Ritchie and Gayle because none of them are what Rafa wants or needs, but make sure you replace them with players that fit his requirements.

He didn't have a great game, but I didn't think he did anything wrong with that tackle tbh. Slightly irresponsible, but it wasn't a yellow and Atkinson couldn't fucking wait to dish it out.

Unreal this.

I turned it off as soon as I saw the red card (my central heating needed adjusting) but the BBC have described it as such:

Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who has already been booked, gets a second yellow for a really horrible tackle on Idrissa Gueye in the 94th minute.

He doesn't contest it. He just runs off. Not good.

and

Newcastle's miserable night was compounded deep into injury time when Jonjo Shelvey was sent off for an ugly lunge on Idrissa Gueye.

Even if his 2nd yellow was unjust the 1st was so absolutely thick to do.  He's got no brain and has shown that across his whole career.
