54
I thought there was a thread for this already, but I couldn't find one. Supposedly there is going to be an announcement at 6:30, if not it'll be this week anyhow. Rumours going around that Amazon may have won the rights. TheHoob
There is a rule in place which means that the rights need to be split between at least 2 companies. Be interesting if BT pull out or if it'll end up getting split between 3.

Kanji
Would you all just prefer 1 network to own them? Wouldn't it make it easier to plan / watch that way? And is it finally looking like the PL matches will now ALL be covered in the UK?

Guest neesy111
Sky and BT have paid 4.5 billion for those packages, sounds like reduction in the TV deal in total is on the cards.

Guest neesy111
Two packages remain to be sold, sounds like wasn't enough bidders for them. Some sensibility at last.

One provider would be better BUT Ofcom has stopped that, in turn making consumers actually ending up paying more

Not necessarily - they can still deviate from the times above based on police/health and safety advice etc. But in the main aye, shouldn’t be any. Figures 1-0 Football
5 of 7 Premier League live domestic TV packages sold for £4.464bn (4 to Sky, 1 to BT), with two live packages still to be sold “with interest from multiple bidders”. Current deal worth £5.1bn Not a huge increase at all then, when the other 2 are sold it’ll be about the same as it was. Sky have won an extra package to what they current have, haven’t they? Geordie Ahmed
BT say they are still in for the other 2 packages so they might end up with more. I'd prefer BT to get them instead of Amazon/Facebook etc

timeEd32
A glimmer of hope for the takeover if the domestic rights are going to plateau.

Guest chopey
The other two packages are pretty shit it will take a lot of resources for virtually no viewers for some of the fixtures

Stockport and Oldham, for example, would probably see their gates drop if Man Utd were on TV at the same time.
