If Rafa is definitely making changes, surely Murphy and Merino have to start today. If not, Murphy will surely come in for Spurs, and then again for Chelsea with Atsu out for the season and Kenedy ineligible against a parent club.

Would legit rather see Haidara than Man. Hope he's out the door in the summer. Awful player

I disagree. We need a squad, and with no quality available from our academy we need players like him in the squad that are happy to not play but can step in when needed, and while not great, can do a solid enough job.

Our likely limited transfer funds should not be going on squad fillers, they should be spend on bringing in quality players better than anything already on the books in the key areas where we need to strengthen.

Haidara is finished. He'll be leaving the club in a few weeks time.

Can only assume Dummett is in line for a second-half sub, and with Manquillo already on the pitch that leaves Haidara as the alternative.

Happy to see Murphy getting a run out. Hope he's not gash.

Would love a result here, like, need as much momentum as possible going into the summer/new season.

Could bring Yedlin on and shift Manquilo to left back. Don;t think we need a right back and a left back on the bench but not that fussed

Have to keep an eye on that Richarlison lad, one of those players that makes watching football enjoyable

I quite like him and wouldn’t mind him at the Toon, he was scatty against Spurs but was a constant threat and worked his balls off. Apparently he has been crap since his early form.

I'm all for having a squad, and of course its contingent on getting a replacement. But honestly Manq was so bad for us, he contributed to a ton of our conceded goals. There must be full backs knocking around, (in spain if the current news about Rafa expanding the scouting is correct), I'd really like to see him replaced

He played a long stint out of position due to injury to others and you are correct he did cost us some goals and had a few stinkers. Will be interesting to see how he does at right back today.

There's not really anyone else, that's why there's two full backs on the bench.

Clark is injured and Mbemba is AWOL.

Mbemba is training with the first team so how is he AWOL?

Chris Waugh on NUFC XI's

Rafa promised changes, but he didn’t have a wealth of options to choose from. No surprises to see Jacob Murphy given a runout - he deserves a chance to impress In terms of the squad, people asking about Chancel Mbemba - my understanding is he hasn’t exactly impressed in training recently. In terms of Manquillo, it’s an interesting one. Yedlin has played a lot of football - & both Yedlin & Ritchie struggled down the right flank against Watford back in November. Yedlin, meanwhile, has a slight knock - & so too does Isaac Hayden, who has a minor knee problem. That’s why they’re on the bench

Ok not technically AWOL as in he is physically here but he has mentally checked out and it's pretty much accepted that's he's as good as gone and will only play in a complete injury crisis as his attitude and focus has gone.
