Guest skhwoody
if luque cant get a game then i assume robert would be in same boat! Hear Hear.... one good season and people still go on about him, he is a legend in his own lunch hour and other than his first season he did frig all for this club other than undermine us at time when we needed everyone pulling together. Guest alex
Solano is past his best too imo. imo he has been a revelation filling in at RB, we missed him on the weekend. he may not be the player he was in his prime, but he is still very valuable for us. He's done well of late at right-back I agree.
Guest Gemmill
Robert was shit by the time he left and he's no doubt even shitter now. I'm not surprised he wants to come back, but he's nowhere near good enough.

Guest Li3nZ
Hang on, wasn't Robert supposed to be better than Ginola (according to many) ? Glad to see most have now seen the light and realised he is a load of shite.

Guest
In his time here, I reckon he was. If we're going to use the Luque/Boumsong argument, I don't care what he did at other clubs.

But for what he brought to the team, I'd say Robert hands down. Put it this way, put Robert in that Keegan team with his goals/assists record, we'd have walked the title in 1996, put Ginola in the Robson team of 2002 with his record, and I doubt we'd have finished 4th. That's fair. :winking:

Bellamy was more instrumental but I take your point, but I'm not sure we'd have walked the title with Robert in the side, Ginola was far more important than just the goals/assists he provided. He gave other options Robert never could, like being able to receive the ball under pressure in his own half and beating a couple or more men and turning defence into attack. I'm not syaing Robert wasn't very important to the revival under Robson; he was. But it's not just a case of putting Robert in the '96 side and pissing the league. I honestly don't think it would have worked like that. We'll never know though. (The current) Robert's the last thing we need now though. I'd have Bellamy back like

Rob W
Maybe he's actually been playing all season in his famous cloak of invisibility that he used to don soemtimes and disapear from sight in front of 52,000 people and 12 TV Camera's beats that shitty US magician any day

I couldn't disagree more. I'd take an in-form/playing at peak Ginola over an in-form/peak Robert ANY day of the week. For all Ginola could be a lazy arse, on his game, he was quite simply inspirational. For all Robert could be a lazy, sulky, gobshite-ing twat, on his day he could strike a good free kick. Robert never got me to the edge of my seat , time after time, like Ginola did and, for me, Robert didn't have any of the guile that Ginola did. Just look what they did when they left us. Ginola had a complete stormer of a season (got nominated for PFA Player of the year - did he win it? I can't remember) and Robert, well, should have retired (almost) gracefully after Portsmouth. Guest Invicta_Toon
he can come back to take corners and free kicks but only if he can prove he can play an over lapping LB so he won't be coming
