Because its the antithesis of what the root of a number of issues are and its the easiest one to detail without exposing certain people or things

Can you please explain why it was such a big deal and why it "set us back" because I'm honestly not getting it.

I will do this one last time. The reason we chose not to travel was because we didn't want people to see our training methods, this wasnt the choice of what was best for the players travel wise or what was important for the club, it was a management choice and it was to put their paranoia before the exposure of the club. We turned up, got a draw but looked terrible. You cant take your return to the competition with all of the intrigue from fan and media and be training behind closed doors and not before the media. Im not saying this is the be all and end all that proves a point, I'm saying it is part of a number of issues that have happened that aren't done for the benefit of the club and when combined they will and are holding us back. Thats the issue I have. I want the best for NUFC and the best people for NUFC, by not doing the correct things or putting people in high positions who arent there on merit is not doing the best for the club.

The club deserve the best and the on field achievements are insane but if they arent then matched off the field we will end up in groundhog day with players itching for a move as they dont see a way we can reach a next level or being consistently top 3 - 5. I dont want us to finish top 7 every year and pick up the odd trophy when we can achieve more even if the deck is stacked against us. As i said, i think we have the right coach but not the right manager, that is up to the club to decide how they navigate the tricky path.

is his nephew best in class or a considerable road block? Should we have attended the San Siro rather than eddie worry about people seeing his tactics when we train? Agent's and coaches who could have assisted us are blocked from the training ground due to paranoia. We were openly mocked by 2 agents in a very public setting this summer for how "small time" we look when doing business and this was a direct quote onto the manager.

hes the best coach we could get, hes not the best manager

This is the part where you're asked who we could get and you don't have an answer or the answer is insane.

Anybody you get is always a risk so by logic any suggestion is insane. Saying we could get Rafa in the Championship would have seemed ludicrous

Cheers for explaining, that doesn't even register as a negative for me though and I'd imagine the majority. Every manager in the world has their own set of quirks and makes errors regularly.

we didn't get him in the Championship. We still had a fighting chance of avoiding the drop. Rewriting history a little?

With all due respect, if Eddie feels the need to protect his tactics and train behind closed doors to minimize outside disruption that is firmly on the remit of Eddie Howe as manager. That example of being out there in public in the CL 2 seasons ago seems a bit stretched as to say he cares more about HOWE over NUFC. I'd say a man who worked himself into pneumonia put NUFC over himself.

Genuinely mental point to pick on as well given we did travel over for our away games this time, so it's not like it's some indelible flaw that he'll never get past  I don't even think it's a flaw tbh

Somewhat reassuring how much barrel scraping that lot are having to do

Everything we see, he can see. No doubt he’s also aware of issues/solutions we haven’t even noticed yet.
We can all critique his decisions (I do, also) but he’s consistently shown he’s more than capable of adjusting the system.
Bet we look a lot better (injuries permitting) in the new year.

Unless I'm very much mistaken Eddie Howe is the first team coach at NUFC he's never been the manager. Lots of clubs have this distinction although at Newcastle it's never been clear what falls under Eddie's remit or not. Anyhow the biggest concern imo is the rotten disjointed football we play most of the time based on size, athleticism and physicality, over technical ability and possession. The things we were good at have disappeared and haven't as yet been replaced with an effective alternative. Maybe the players we have are not capable in playing any other way but surely most of them are better than what we have been witnessing so far this season. The team needs change, no more Pope hoofing the ball into the stands, no more Burn at LB, Miley needs to play in midfield as he is at least comfortable in possession and doesn't consistently give the ball away, Barnes over Gordon and currently Murphy over Elanga. Most importantly find a way to integrate our 69million unicorn into an effective threat something that so far no one at the club seems to have a clue how to do.

It would, but we got him in the Premier League.

No suggestions then.
