Fine with criticism… but when folk are calling for him to be replaced that sounds like turning to me…

No issue there. I just voiced criticism of him today.

Lack of back room has cost him a lot this season, but starting that midfield 3 in a game which is our easiest game for a while is poor planning. We should have played with more attacking thread from the start. Ramsey in for Joelinton

Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Villa seem to manage 3 games a week - so why can't we? Same thing happened last time we were in the CL too.

For the first 3 at least, it’s pretty obvious. Villa fell short last season in the end and they’re playing in the Europa this season. Much easier to manage than the CL. They also have a manager who always does well in Europe.

Howe could rotate better, mind. Plus it is only his second season of doing this. So I’m sure there will be mistakes being made and he’s learning on the fly.

No excuse for the away performances, really. Can’t always blame fatigue or 3 games in 8 days or whatever there.

The first three of those have much bigger better squads that we are forbidden from constructing ourselves - is the simple answer.

Villa, could argue they're playing dick around games in Europe but I've said earlier that we were playing like this right from the start.

Also we were playing like this before the genuine fatigue. The reverse fixture, Leeds and Bournemouth in the first month of the season.

Aye I think it's an easy excuse to hide behind, especially when we've been playing pretty much like this all season.

Same here, I want him to get it right with every fibre of my NUFC support.

Where just not seeing it, well suppose he did take Gordon off today a head of Barnes.

We were shite but we are a point behind Chelsea and two behind Man United who are both allowed to spend basically unlimited money on transfers and wages , the league is so poor this year.

Should be third in the league with better away performances.

When we have other options in midfield, Fatigue cannot be used as an excuse.

If there not good enough, then move them on and replace them.

Easier said than done.

Totally agree, but by the looks of things have even tried to move players on.

The only players mentioned are Osula and Wilock.

Move them where and replace them with who? Is it really that simple?

Them decisions are above my pay grade, but if we cannot or will not move them on there that’s a huge problem.

You can’t blame fatigue if you’re not going to criticise him for a lack of changes.

What are Ramsey, Willock and Elanga doing on the bench today? If they’re not good enough or trusted to play against Wolves then we need to make at least 3 or 4 signings this window.

And we have fresh players like Ramsey, Elanga and Willock on the bench. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of these players, they were bought to give us depth in the squad, and it would allow us to step up the intensity that our play requires.

We still might not win, but at least we couldn't point to fatigue as an excuse.

Wolves would be top if they won all their games

Strange comment tbh, there a poor side who are going to be relagted

Our home form, carried over to away form would be enough.

I've posted this before but it's worth bearing in mind;

Quote

While it was never publicly declared, Newcastle were in August targeting another top-eight finish, as well as progress in both the Champions League and domestic cup competitions.

That's from Luke Edwards who, like him or not, is fairly well-connected.

Top 8 and progress in the rest, that's what he's going to be judged by and I wonder if that's part of the reason that we aren't looking to invest much in January - either he or people above him (or all of the above) think the squad is good enough to achieve that.

I think those decisions are above Eddies pay grade too… and the ability to trade players these days seems to be way, way too complicated for us…

If we cannot, which means teams don’t want to buy our players, what are we supposed to do about that?

Yellow sticker and lob them in the whoopsie aisle?

Top 8 is about as much as we could reasonably ask tbh, given the investment in the squad in comparison to our rivals.

Just let them rot and loose millions when their contracts expire.

Lots of similar players on the bench, and like for like subs. We need creativity as a matter of urgency.

It's not as though this is a new squad to him. This is his squad. We didn't need another Willock in Ramsey, we needed a 10. A player like Morgan Rogers. Someone like him is badly needed.
