We’ve rarely been a mid table team though, mostly either CL chasers or relegation candidates.

I think there have been many seasons wherein we've flirted between both in one year tbh, and thus average out midtable. [emoji38]

This year's been the most midtable one ever. We're not in any risk of going down, but also not in any momentum to challenge for something.

On the basis that its fairly sure now we will lose any or all of

Bruno

Tonali

Livramento

Hall

Gordon

Thiaw

Joelinton

Miley

Who is left to manage??

Whoever we pick up from the sides slightly worse than us.

I'm sure the data guys have plans.

You think we could sell 8 first team players in one summer? We’ve jumped the shark now.

I think 3 of that list will go. Gordon, Tino and one of Bruno/Tonali. The latter imo. We wont sell both.

We will keep the rest for the time being imo.

I do hope that whenever Eddie goes, it happens in the right way.

I think his time is coming to an end, but he deserves a lot of gratitude for all the good he's done. Hopefully that's not forgotten.

He needs to be told he needs to adapt with what he has.

I love the bloke but I can't say he's top tier with how stubborn he is.  His in game management is abysmal.

Today: "Very, very painful. Most of all painful for our supporters and they're the ones I think about now. I've got very little to use as an excuse. Once you haven't performed and you know how much the game means you have to accept the criticism. I'm disappointed in myself and my delivery over the last week."

I’m going to say this now.

He did not and does not know how much these matters to supporters.

We had KO for the 2nd half, and he had us to that fucking thing where we kick the ball to them in order to press them.

Under no fucking circumstances should a Newcastle United team be handing over possession to Sunderland, if Sunderland did it we would be laughing. To make matters worse we didn’t even press them when they got the throw-in from it.

That fucked me off, and the fact that he’s stood there saying he knows how much this game means to the supporters is a spit in the face.

Partly.

How much is last summer's disaster down to him? That's the one that has set us back massively. Huge money spent on crap.

Really sad that some are unhappy with him now but can't fault them for it. It is the worse season in terms of performances we have had under Eddie. Can it be better next season? maybe but the signings we made under him last summer have not really paid off and we are due for another summer of turmoil with Sandro, Tino, Bruno all potentially being chased by bigger clubs. Seeing how we and he handled the Isak saga last summer, I am soooooo not looking forward to facing it again this summer.

As it should be. I've clicked 3 different options at various parts of the season. My most recent click was the "time for him to go" option.

Lots of this season has been like watching a car crash in slow motion, perfectly encapsulated by that utter shambles today.

I think so given you’re slagging him relentlessly

It’s hardly undeserved.  We’ve gotten worse as the season has went on - he’s spunked a quarter of a billion on players who haven’t improved the squad, our tactics look stale and atavistic, the in-game management is formulaic and poor, we’re now shipping goals at a rate which would be likely to break records, and the results haven’t been close to good enough.

I’d still much rather he resigned than was sacked at the end of the season.

I wasn’t arguing the merits, I was just saying I’m surprised you hadn’t already voted out.

Cherry on top of a poor season really. Said it before Christmas that the cup performances were papering over the cracks, and were now in a position where we may not even get European football next season.

Wouldn’t be against rolling the dice with an interim manager until the summer tbh, realistically we’re not getting relegated.

He assembled that team today. Spent more money on it than any other manager in the history of NUFC and you'd seriously allow him to squander more on a rebuild? He decides on tactics. He gave the HT team talk and we didn't come out yet again for the 2nd half.

To say he's the least of our worries is ludicrous in all honesty.

A cup winning manager and the guy who is responsible for two champions league campaigns IS the least of our problems.
