One dimensional and the defending is some of the worst I’ve seen in 40 years. Today we seen our midfield outclassed, he’s spent a fucking fortune and think Xhaka, Rigg, Sadiki and Le Fee looked far more accomplished, creative on the ball than anything we had. Let that sink in, we spent 40 million on a Villa reserve in the summer, our 2nd most expensive midfielder ever and he’s bang average. He’s wasted over 200 million in the summer and not one signing has improved our starting 11. Today was unforgivable and most could see it coming a mile off. He is tactically not there - I have no idea what we are - what’s our identity? We can’t defend, our defending is Sunday League level - we can’t pass or keep the ball for a sustained period - we can’t break defences down - £130m plus spent on strikers and we play one of them in CM - blind loyalty to players - 31 games into the PL season and we are still as shit as we were at the start of the season. The Bonk
He looks so fucking gutted, wasn’t able to watch this earlier (took my kids to Comicon). He’s done so much right here that he deserves to see us through this transition. 13 years of shit and in 5 years he’s got us near the super clubs, with a squad not nearly as deep. He looks just as hurt as the rest of us, poor guy is shaving years of his life managing us. I really hope he can get that 7th spot and play some Europa football next year. On the other hand, no Europe would give him more training time with our underperforming players.

I can remember what KK looked like after we blew the title - the man seemed to age rapidly in six months. I’d hope no-one on here has anything but respect for Howe and his achievements at the club - but what’s happening at the moment isn’t good for the club and likely not healthy for the man. I think time is probably just about up, but that doesn’t change my view that the man has written himself into folklore and should have a statue at SJP. Tiotes Witch Doctor
Guys. Seriously, you can do all the mental gymnastics you want but we're now at a point where even Howe can't tell us or make excuses about why we're so shite, I admire the fact he doesn't want to make excuses and I also will always love him for what he's done here, I also know it's not fashionable on here to say this and I don't pretend to know who replaces him or what the future looks like but I know that I and everyone I know are sick of how he approaches games and are ready for something else. It's time for the man to go, and if he has the integrity that we all think he does be would be walking away. Instead it's the usual robotic, emotionless passionless explanations. Edit: Do you want this guy and his nephew to ruin another season with questionable signings and jobs for the boys? I know I fucking don't. Valid points, I just want the guy to have time to put things right. CL level football and going deep in all the cups is not sustainable for our squad level without some luck, which we haven’t had much of. Isak leaving really fucked us, guy was lethal and could kill off games on his own. Our defence has been pretty good under Eddie up until this season. Tripps, Burn, Schar are all in various stages of decline, Botman injured so much he’s lost his edge, Thiaw been good but has the odd clanger in him. We need better players, hopefully Wilson can find some gems that aren’t overpriced domestic players.

I can’t remember that happening since 97/98 - but it probably has. Howe sits just below KK and above SBR for me as our best manager in my lifetime - Dalglish is firmly nowhere near that. I haven’t either tbh - but I also don’t think it needs to be a ‘name’. I hadn’t really heard of Silva, Iraola, Farke, Glasner, Slot, Le Bris, Hurzeler, Andrews, Edwards, Pereira, or Nuno before either their current role or before coming to England. This is why I’m not onboard with the ‘name someone who could do better’ crack I’ve seen (which I know you’re not suggesting). My biggest concern is that I’m not particularly convinced by either the DoF nor the CEO, and I’m not sure they’d be looking for the right type of coach. The structure at the club is all wrong, and unfortunately one of the reasons I’m not convinced by Howe is that he’s actively pushed it in this direction - which by many accounts was also the case at Bournemouth.
