Don't get why such things continue to be so implausible to people given all the evidence of this season and the relative form of the teams in question here. I can’t think of a worse team in the PL on current evidence than us. We look unmotivated, out of ideas, mentally weak and disorganised. Everyone could see how the following season was going to pan out under SBR and we should have parted ways in the summer, but probably out of loyalty (and Shepherd not wanting to be the one who "shot Bambi") we didn’t. Ended up scratching around in the September for a new manager and ended up with Souness cos supposedly he was the one to get the brat pack under control. He hasn't been the architect of our downfall this season. Stupid to think that he has been. His failure has been in not finding the solutions to the various factors which have beaten us down. That, and getting us 4th in his second season were unbelievable achievements and, IMO, almost solely down to him. But where I see it differently is I think he takes a huge portion of the blame for this shambles of a season too.
