Agree with who ?

If you’re on about UncleBingo I think he’s talking absolute shite. And he called me “kidda” when I’m nearly 50.

“22 years ago we appointed Souness after Robson so therefore if we replace Eddie it’s probably doomed to fail because of history” is possibly one of the most ludicrous opinions I’ve heard in my life.

The Gramgram fella. Just seems too reactionary.

That’s not quite the case - Howe did an excellent job at Bournemouth, but it wasn’t a miraculous one.  Bournemouth spent a fortune to get up to the top flight.  So much that they breached the FFP regs by a decent margin.  I don’t at all think that this invalidates the achievement, but it wasn’t exactly the same as Wimbledon’s rise through the divisions - Howe was massively backed by a billionaire owner.

There is enough to criticise with the team without having to diminish his achievements at Bournemouth.

There's an awful lot of heavy lifting going on there, mind.

Has the kidda comment really got you this rattled, kidda?

I don’t think there’s owt wrong with being worried that the club will balls up a successor to Howe and therefore want to stick instead of twist, and cite Souness as an example.  But it is daft to suggest that we’re doomed to repeat it or that this is what is bound to happen

How does that mean he will deliver that next season though?

It doesn't.  But one poor season doesn't mean the next one is going to be 'bleak'.  Considering he has history of bouncing back into CL positions.

Just needs the players.

I just wrote that it doesn’t (you still have to build a winning team) and I was replying to someone who kept talking about Bournemouth.  But somehow the idea has sprung up that he performed wonders on a shoestring when in fact he was massively backed by a wealthy owner.

How many opportunities did Arsenal make? Two? They were in the lead and didn’t do anything. Their manager celebrated wildly after beating our rather dilapidated team 1-0. We had more possession than them and they were at home.

A front three of Osula, Ramsey and Murphy with Willock in midfield. Miley and Burn at full back. We did pretty good tbf.

Sorry it’s a bit uncool to pick out single words from individual posts, but I think that ‘dilapidated’ is being a bit kind to Eddie (and I’m a fan).

We don’t have an exceptional amount of injuries and our team should be reasonably well rested now.

Our bench was nearly worth more than our starting 11, which was completely down to Eddie’s selection.

He’d never got Bournemouth relegated until he got them relegated.

Bournemouth were never in the Premier League until Eddie Howe got them into the Premier League.

Jesus, a typo.

Surely you're better than that?

It’s based on history.

25 years ago someone who was a successful speller was replaced by someone who made a typo and it turned out they knew nothing about football management appointments.

Can’t argue with history. It happened then so it’ll definitely happen again.

He’s bounced back once, and not after a run / season like this one.   23/24 wasn’t close to be as bad as this - there was a bad run of seven defeats in eight, but generally the side looked good outside of that.  This season has been turgid and got increasingly worse as it went on.

Do you need brought down a peg with your own in December 2021?

I was wrong then and was told so, loudly. At least I've the good grace to admit it.

Losing 1-0 and being a massive missed chance away from a 1-1 away to a team whose home form is Won 13, Drawn 2, Lost 2 despite us being in shite form and massively low on confidence seems like a high bar to meet for what's deemed acceptable, especially when 99% of the people on here's expectation was that we'd get bummed senseless.

And we're wrong now, but it wasn't based on a lack of evidence, nor does it mean that because we've had a shit season that Howe is the first thing we should choose to change.

He's just not dynamic or proactive enough. Even if he had a better transfer window in the coming summer, I don't know how people think he's going to come back a totally different coach next year

He has never demonstrated any will to change from his usual style of play or ethos at all. Which has failed him for 12 months now.

Have you considered that people might think he doesn’t need to come back a totally different coach?

Arsenal were shite. Yes it was better than expected, but its still the same lack of patterns in attack, sideway passing, boring to watch.

I think it's more the bizarre decision making, lack of anything good going forward etc than this result in isolation. It all looks stale and not much improvement

Agree with all of that entirely.

The grass is sometimes greener is undeniable. And that’s what I was saying to someone who said the grass isn’t always greener.

Then they started spaffing on about NUFC’s appointments in the last 50 years and getting all ageist and calling a poster a silly cunt.

Talking about history. Do we have any examples of any managers from any team in the PL that has recovered from being in the CL then finishing in the bottom half?

Howard Kendall from 92-94?

Yep, I’m pushing it on that one
