If anyone thinks anything will happen in January, you're mad.

It just won't, move on.

I suppose it depends on how desperate Man City are, they have also just announced record turnover so it looks like they have money to spend.

Not only a great goal, but took like 5 billion tons of weight off our shoulders. Was the moment we knew there was no chance of relegation

Fuck selling him to City. I want a Joelinton/Bruno statue (also want a Burn/Fraser statue for the lolz)

Without some incredibly intelligent scouting and recruitment I fear we will slide into further midtable obscurity were we to sell Bruno. I understand why we would do it, but I don't understand why anybody would exactly be clamouring for it except as a means to avert possible FFP induced stagnation. It's a massive roll of the dice.

Probably an unpopular opinion but if we have to sell a (very likely irreplaceable) player on FPP grounds it would be Isak for me. Partly because of his injury record/suitability for a high pressing style which is undoubtedly the style which suits us best under Howe. I also feel it is likely Isak will be looking to move on in the next couple of years in any case barring a great reversal of our present fortunes. Whereas Bruno I could see staying for the longer-term, if we are able to withstand any interest in the next year.

“Clearly does more than that for them, though, doesn't he?

Since he started being played in DM for Newcastle he's contributed to about 30 goals in 100 Premier League games. We miss Rodri's defensive qualities obviously, but his ability further up the pitch as something as a box-to-box midfielder is seriously underrated.

Bruno's fast, he's aggressive and dynamic, tough, energetic, doesn't shirk a tackle, and knows where the net is. Would be an ideal box-to-box type when Rodri's back as well and needs legs next to him. He's also comfortable slotting into the full DM position to allow Rodri chance to rest.

Plus, the Geordies love him. It's always a good sign when a transfer target of ours is still being celebrated and adored by the club he's coming from. I held out hope that Ake would come good simply because of how highly rated he was by Bournemouth fans, who still love him to this day.

Newcastle don't have to sell in January, but they're going to have to sell before they buy, and considering how they've stagnated in the last 12 months they'll need to regenerate the team in other areas pronto. I think we should slap £90m-£100m on the table and see what they do”

Watching him play for another PL team would honestly be sickening for me.

I totally agree! However, much much rather City than say Liverpool, ManU or Arsenal.

I love Bruno and I think he amazing bith as a player and character. IF we receive say 85-90m or thereabouts then we would be stupid to turn it down considering his age and the PSR restrictions we have. We MUST wheel and deal. The big question is what we actually spend that money on.

Agree we need intelligent scouting and think we’ve got it, could have Ederson & Mamardashvili for £55m, but somebody decided against going with the scouts recommendation.

It's a bit of a mixed and unclear picture with regards to our scouting and recruitment at the moment, at least from the outside looking in. Possibly a reflection of transition, competing voices or even power struggles. One of the less discussed dimensions of this is the possible sidelining or minimisation of Steve Nickson, who by all accounts has played a pretty important role in some of our best recruitment work to date.

The hope would certainly be that we could unearth another Bruno/Isak somehow, and those reported targets you mentioned are certainly encouraging too.

Equally though, I don't dismiss the possibility of a world where we go and spend the incoming funds on Guehi, Elanga and James Trafford - an abysmal scenario and yet the reports from the last transfer window give the idea some credibility.
