Matt Targett: set to sign for Leeds United (Wilson) / no he isn't (Ryder)

Ain't no way anyone is paying money for a player that has played a total of 10 games worth of minutes across the last three seasons, 8 of them being 2 seasons ago. Best we can hope for is a loan with obligation to buy if Leeds gets promoted type of deal imo, if they are indeed interested at all, which I suspect they aren't.

Isn't he out of contract at the end of he season? Can't see anyone paying £7 million for him, unless they're gagging for left back cover.

End of next season, I believe.

He's an excellent player at that level, he'd be one of not the best FB in the league. If he's willing to step down, every team with the cash should be trying to get him in. Surprised none of the bottom PL teams are in for him. Guess no one needs that position..

It might be his salary, probably on the high end for a full back. Plus he's 29 so no resale value. Good defender though, would definitely do a sterling job for a lower or mid-tier PL club.

If the £7 million figure is true it feels a fair deal for all parties. He's got a big question mark over him due to the last 2 years of injuries and he's not going to have a sell on value which we all know matters in a PSR world.

Equally he's shown he's good in the PL, seems a good character and is in what used to be considered his prime years.

So taking a loss on the £12 million spent but still getting a decent chunk back and getting his wages off the books, which is becoming more important due to European Competition's wages to turnover rules, is about right.
