Much as they deride it, 'football didn't start in 1992' and all that, the PL era is a pinnacle of league performance for them in the last 75years the only count by which they'd be in a top 20. We have hardly played them in years, so the once quite bitter rivalry of the 80s and 90s is not the same. More importantly though it would totally devastate the mackem cunts, with their two north east rivals being in the league above.
