Except both us and Villa are owned by billionaires and are amongst the richest sporting clubs in the world due to ownership wealth.

We’ve also both employed very good managers who have now been in their position for 3 years, and had the support of their boards during rough periods.

Nottingham Forest struggled for 2 years, and even got a points deduction because of how they had to spend money to rebuild their squad.

Brighton repeatedly sell their best players at the first opportunity, and have arguably taken a step backwards since their European qualification a couple of seasons ago.

I can’t see their supporters sticking by them in any of those scenarios, nor can I see their owner throwing them the money required to build a squad that could compete further up the Premier League.

If they do go up, he’ll likely sell to the first American consortium who get in contact with him.

God help them if the club starts charging them ticket prices more in line with the Premier League and they have to start contributing towards their success.

By what metric have us and Villa not been back in the prem long? Since the PL form we've spent a combined 5 seasons out the PL. They nearly spent that in L1 alone!

We've spent 3 seasons outside the PL.

There is equally as little reason why with the right recruitment the wealthier, more attractive and far better teams already Leeds and Burnley couldn't beat them to it. Let alone the other wealthier 17 premier clubs.

Our absolutely horrible 90/91 season (rank it as the worst non-Ashley season I personally experienced,) the epitome of midtable, lost at home to Bristol Rovers and Notts County, rock bottom Hull did the double over us etc. We were closer to automatic promotion than these this season.

Devon White killed us

They’re having a great season. Trouble is, their expectations are ridiculous. If they go up they’ll get hammered and the fans will turn on them, if they don’t go up they’ll struggle to match this season and the fans will turn on them.

They need to remember they were in League 1 very recently and struggled to get out of it.

Their fans are the best and worst thing about the club. It's something they'll never get their head around, and for that, will never change.

Very small part of me would like them up just to see this clown so far out of his depth that he goes down as one of the worst ever Premier League footballers.

He's this generations Lee Cattermole. A massively overhyped clogger that throws himself about a bit to show his passion for the club. As annoying a dickhead you're unlikely to find.

Gains favour with the uncultured morons on Weirdside with shite like this all the time. Look at his challenge on Miley. They’re happy to win their little battle, meanwhile everyone else wins the war.

Its like the Gazza/Vinnie Jones incident. Except at a worse level of football and involving players many times worse with many times worse careers than Vinnie Jones

Whoopee! I'm entitled to a ticket this Friday.

Obviously will give it a miss but hope they fall foul of their nemesis again over both legs. Must have signed up on their ticket site as part of my quest to do the 92. Was at Coventry v Reading a couple of years back.

Nothing loading there.

If they go up I'd say there's a massive chance that Louis-Dreyfus sells up.  He's not there as a fan, he's there to prove to his family that he's a big boy and by selling up he can show that he can take a distressed asset and flip it for a profit.

Was just an email from Coventry saying as I have attended a home game "recently", sure it was 2 years ago, I have until tomorrow to apply for the play off home leg ticket I'm entitled to. I'm just useless with technology and trying to upload stuff etc so have taken it down. If they go up maybe they'll give me a ticket for the Toon game. Bit too old for sitting undercover with home fans nowadays like.
