General NUFC stuff: club crest to be changed (Official)

Am I right  in thinking no one was too fussed when they changed the badge in the past, same with moving the stadium to Leazes Park in the 90's ( apart from environmentalists)?

Is it people were not bothered or rather that the Internet didn't exist? Any one remember articles in fanzines criticising the club?

The oldest of our previous badges was just seven years old, so I doubt there'd have been a big fuss. We've had the current one for 37 years. (city crest obvs older but had only been on our shirt for seven years)

There's also more reason to be protective of such things now than in the 70s-80s I believe, due to the complete transformation of english football's role in the world.

again, if the club want to simply clean it up - ie: take the current crest and remove the blury details and additonal lines and even it up like that lad who did it on instagram that has been posted on the previous pages - perfect.

This is absolutely fine, but I'd honestly be shocked if the club went to this length just to clean some blurry lines up.

Most of us would barely bat an eye lid if they gave the lion an actual face[emoji38]

if they're really canvassing support for that small a change it's no surprise we take an age doing owt, flip side is they're cautious when making a misstep which is good.

Haven’t seen a single fan design that’s better than our current crest.

I’m all for change if there are benefits to it, but from what I’m seeing it’s nigh on impossible to improve on what we already have.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I get the first part but not the second as football's role in the world doesn't bother any fans, what does that mean in reality? All you care about is your club. Look how many of us, myself included, welcome Saudi Ownership of our club.

Personally think having any sort of magpie on the design looks shite. If the person / persons who created the current iteration are still kicking about , get them to do it because every fucker else has been hopeless.

The way football has changed bothers loads of fans.

In the 60s-80s there wasn't anything like as much reason to fear the club being stripped of its ties to the community, city and history as there is now. Who the club is 'for' from the perspective of the owners has changed massively then. Consequently I think it's natural to want to hang on to what we've got, retain tradition etc.

Might have already been posted, but quite liked this mock-up if the changes were gonna be more radical, whilst keeping the same sort of 'crest'... :coat:
