The fact out new KO routine involves us kicking the ball out for a throw in to press surely makes a mockery for the need for him to keep the ball in play when kicking long

Difference between playing for position from kick-off down by there corner flag, and the ball going out over Hall or Livramento's head in the full-back positions?

Hardly conducive to becoming better in possession though. Other than the save in the first 10 seconds v Wolves, I can't remember a save where I've thought he's saved a certain goal.

No, I accept that. He's never going to step into the middle third and act as another auxiliary CB and start knocking it about the back line, he's not capable of that. I'm just saying if he keeps it simple, uses his throws/bowls out and avoids risk (whilst still saving most of the shots he faces) then him launching it 3 or 4 times a game isn't the end of the world. Ideally he'd be able to do it all but doing what he's currently doing isn't costing us anything and Liverpool and Barca are the only teams to score past him so far

Our KO routine sucks just as much as Popes passing tbh. Just because the team is comfortable losing possession in attempts at creating chances rather than just circulating the ball without real intent in order to not lose it doesn't mean we should actively give the ball away willingly to the opponents.

You’ve lost possession of your punctuation, no offence

We are slow as fuck all over the pitch when we attack that's why we are struggling to create chances.

Popey every game seems be set upon by a fair few in here just for been a bit weak with his passing.

The problems are nothing to do with him.

Well I meant with popey between the sticks.

Just taking the piss. Pope has been solid and if he keeps his form he'll keep his place. Contract expires soon though so I don't see him being #1 next season.

I'm sure if wanted him to stay he'd sign another one.

Who will be number 1 then?

Probably Ramsdale or popey if we offer him a new contract.

I was just being micheviouse (spelling). I know 100% certain that Pope will be our number 1 goalkeeper for at least two more seasons. Some on here that want rid of him just need to accept that fact. He is a fantastic goalkeeper. We are so lucky to have him.

Keepers are different to outfield players as far as age is concerned, as long as they are fit enough they can be on top till a fair age. Popey seems to have getting over that shoulder issue so I don't see why we wouldn't offer him a new two year deal.

Ramsdale (if we make the loan permanent) or another. I think the intent was quite clear with our interest in Trafford that we wanted a new #1. Obviously things can change.

I agree I see past his kicking and I'm still impressed by his keeping and commanding of the area. Best we've ever had in my opinion.

Why is Ramsdale not number 1 then?

You're maybe reading things out of context. If you scroll up you'll see my praise for Pope and how I responded to others, saying Pope is our #1 on merit.

To reiterate (I guess), if Pope is injured or makes mistakes Ramsdale will likely get chances, and I imagine he has the talent to hold the spot.

Edit: If you mean next season, I think the club wants to move to a ball-playing GK and someone for the long-term future, but of course just an opinion. : )

If that where the case then surely Ramsdale would be selected ahead of popey.

And I repeat, Pope will be our number 1 goalkeeper for the next two seasons. I quite like the look of Ramsdale like. If I'm honest, I'm just so pissed off with people on here slagging Pope off. I do realise that you are not one of them. I get so defensive when Pope gets unjust criticism.
