Great. I assume I got distracted during work and never ended up submitting my ballot application. Can't find the entry confirmation anywhere in my inbox.  Dipshit.

Welcome to the club. :mung:

Interesting I couldn’t allocate a ticket to my wife, I guess because she lost in the ballot. But I can allocate one to a friend who didn’t enter the ballot. Hadn’t noticed that before.

Did you both apply separately? Whenever I apply for me and my girlfriend or brother only one of us can apply.

She put a single application in and I applied for a group of 2. I won and she didn’t.

That doesn’t sound right tbh. Did she definitely lose? Would only make sense if she had won?

Dunno, even if she won she hasn’t bought a ticket.

Maybe it’s to do with the names I put on my ballot application - I forgot you specify who the application is for. Might’ve been my brother.

Apologies if this has been covered, but the ticket office has just told me that members' tickets are not transferrable? is it therefore the case that members do transfer tickets for others to use, but strictly shouldn't?

Yeap.

You should be allowed to transfer but via official means e.g.  club can see who's abusing it.

Plans change etc.

Yeah, and given there’s absolutely nothing in the way of ID checks at home games, there’s absolutely no chance of repercussions as long as the ticket is genuine and it’s being used by the correct age concession.

Anyone had an experience of the following;

Mate couldn't make the game (West Ham in this instance) - ear infection has doctors note etc

Sold ticket to another fan at face value

Had to go box office to print the ticket off as the ill mate had already downloaded it to Apple wallet

'Done' for touting and the ill mate in question has since had Liverpool and Brentford tickets cancelled with no refund, membership cancelled for rest of the season and subsequently carabao cup history of tickets if we make final.

The woman at the box office was incredibly rude despite it being obvious we're not touts (tout by definition is sale at a profit).

14 year history of buying tickets at the club.

Disgusted by the treatment to be honest.

Weren't told at the time any of this would happen, only told the fan we sold the ticket to at face value couldn't go in to which we said fair enough.

Did she have ginger hair? She was vile back in the days I had dealings with them. Think she's well known for it

Written a formal complaint to send through to Matt Willis (support liaison officer) and Stephen Tickle (box office manager).

Worst case a warning and slap on the wrist not to do again. We've been going to games at SJP for 20 years - feels way over the top to cancel the above mentioned games and membership all season.

Genuine touts out there wouldn't exactly try print a ticket in the box office!

that sounds ridiculous like. I'd be emailing the Supporter Liaison Officer ([email protected]) and [email protected] with an explanation of what has happened and ask them nicely to resolve it.

the system is totally broken. honesty gets you nowhere. you're better off telling a white lie and saying your phone is knackered and getting a printed ticket to pass on.

That's the one - outright refused to speak to me. Asked for a chance to explain the full situation she said no leave before I ban all 4 linked memberships.

Horrible piece of work. Not sure how she's still there to be honest

Obviously I get why you raise that there was no touting but unfortunately that doesn't appear to come in to their decisions at all. It's just a blanket rule of not being able to pass tickets on. https://support.newcastleunited.com/hc/en-gb/articles/14310772173980-I-am-unable-to-attend-can-I-transfer-my-ticket-to-another-Supporter irrespective of how much/if any money changes hands.

Not defending them but just as far as when you try to put your argument forward. I'd certainly raise it as while they're technically within their rights to do so, it feels like a proper overreach that wouldn't go down too well if you wanted to try and get some publicity about it..

Unfortunately, as backwards as it sounds, it looks like your biggest problem was being too honest by going to the box office. I thought you could add the ticket to another wallet if you unlinked it from the one it was already in so you wouldn't need to go through that faff?

Clearly, the consequences are hugely disproportionate to what has actually taken place. Hopefully you get to speak them and they reduce the ‘punishment’ (I’d suggest it’s worth going the Trust if you’re a member).

I do kind of understand why they have these draconian type punishments as the default though. We want them to reduce touting, so if someone is found to be selling a ticket on when they should be returning to the Box Office, we want that discouraged (appreciating the fact you can’t return if it’s close to the match).

Anyway, best of luck, and for future reference (someone will need to confirm this) can you not just delete the ticket out of the original wallet and forward the email to the person you’re giving the ticket to so they can download?

I got 2 season tickets transferred to me from my mate and his wife with the intention of taking the bairn. Downloaded them to my Google wallet and then on Monday he takes ill so I sold it on Facebook.

Removed it from my Google wallet and just sent the buyer the email with the link to download it to his device (at his request I was happy to meet him outside amd scan him in before me) and he got in no problem. I'd been reluctant to do that as I'd heard that once you've downloaded it you can't do it again and didn't want him getting knocked back at the turnstile and thinking I'd conned him but it worked fine.

I'll be honest I just don't understand the rules any more!
