The College Dropout Posted Saturday at 14:49 Share Posted Saturday at 14:49 I don’t think JP is a long eaten replacement for Isak. JP is not a striker imo, he likes the ball to feet.
Bunk Moreland Posted Saturday at 14:51 Share Posted Saturday at 14:51 Mark Douglas: "The sales pitch to Pedro and other forward targets has been that Eddie Howe is considering evolving his system in certain games to play two up front – which means that any incoming attacking signings would not be forced to play second fiddle to Alexander Isak." https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-system-60m-transfer-wingers-list-3736896

I would say Pedro is not good enough to be #9 after Isak leaves either.

Kanj Posted Saturday at 15:18 Share Posted Saturday at 15:18 People probably forget that Cunha had his best ever season this past one - took him awhile to get to these levels.

He’s the perfect hybrid player - someone we don’t have at the club Him and Elanga would be outstanding purchases under Howe - that group of forwards will be unreal

As I’ve said before, since he’s been here he’s been exceptional at learning from and rectifying setbacks. He now knows what we need for a CL campaign and I’m sure he’ll spend the budget accordingly. Hopefully you're right. That's the only thing that concerns me, that we've been here before with a stretched squad, huge gap in quality between first XI and the backups and it was only Howe's ability to extract the absolute maximum from the squad that saw us finish as high as 7th. To some this is "complaining" but it's only offering an opinion - that if we go big on one or two marquee signings from the PL, our squad will be too light. Maybe that won't be the case. Maybe we'll actually be able to spend enough to add the four or five players I think we need. Maybe we won't spend £60m on Pedro or £50m on Guehi or whatever. All just opinions. Joelinton7 Posted Saturday at 15:38 Share Posted Saturday at 15:38 (edited) For me Joao Pedro would be a great link between Tonali/Bruno and Isak. He’s a good technical ball carrier and would mean we don’t have to always smash it forward for Isak and Gordon to run onto. It would help us keep our shape better and aid Isak/ take some burden off of him. Brighton at their best are one of the most technical pl teams there are atm. JP is part of that. You’ve seen them against us, they tear us to shreds at times. Edited Saturday at 15:39 by Joelinton7
Weezertron Posted Saturday at 15:47 Share Posted Saturday at 15:47 If we end up signing Pedro and Elanga for around 120m - how do we then buy a RCB, GK and CM cover? Genuine question. I guess we can fuck off the GK and continue with Pope. Sell Gordon to fund a RCB and CM cover? You'd also have to buy a Gordon replacement.

If we sign JP we don’t neee to spend significant money on CM cover as we can play 2 rather than 3 in midfield. Could get proper budget CM cover like a Doucoure who would essentially be 6th choice. we just need a CB imo.
