In the offices ‘No Dickeads’ is written in huge letters across a wall and unfortunately JP has crossed that line. His play acting when a defender says boo has been embarrassing (we all love it when one of our own players becomes the pantomime villain to opposing fans, but there is a limit and he goes way beyond). He also has a temper that earns unnecessary red cards. My impression from reading the Brighton forums over the past couple of weeks is that most Brighton fans think the idea that he's a dickhead and that he's got a temper that leads to him getting silly red cards is an outside perception that people who watch him week-in-week-out wouldn't endorse. He's had a single red card and seven yellows in the time he's been playing for you (89 appearances) and other than the Van Hecke training incident my understanding from the majority of posts I've read on various Brighton forums is that he has been a professional who always gives his all on/off the pitch. Watford fans seem to think the same fwiw. Out of interest was there any other incidents besides the Van Hecke training bust up and sole red card that you base this on? Obviously as I'm just using third hand information there's a good chance I could be wrong about all of this, just curious as your point contradicts the mostly good things from Brighton fans I've heard re his attitude. Thanks for taking the time to post here. Edited 6 hours ago by Bunk Moreland

Bit bizarre and stupid like, and he could have ended up with a red. It was stuff like this that made you think he hasn’t been happy at Brighton the second half of the season. Seemed to generally appear more frustrated than we had seen from him before, hence stuff like this.
Skeletor
He'd bring depth up front, as a number 10 and would allow us not to struggle against mid-table low block teams. Definitely worth the price. Also might actually beat Brighton for once instead of putting in shit non-performances every time we play them.

His play acting when a defender says boo has been embarrassing (we all love it when one of our own players becomes the pantomime villain to opposing fans, but there is a limit and he goes way beyond). He also has a temper that earns unnecessary red cards. BUT he is a VERY good footballer. His goal stats are somewhat flattered by the fact that most have been pens (and he is not usually the earner of the pen) but what team doesn’t want a reliable pen taker? He is superb at pens and probably the best we’ve ever had. Goals from open play are less common (though the winning goal v Ajax in Amsterdam will never be forgotten) but his ability to create opportunities for others is undoubtable. What is he worth? Given the demand for strikers,£60M is probably fair. Though don’t be taken in by this. Tony Bloom never reveals his target fee and he always gets what he wants. Everything else is clickbait/media speculation. Should he go to NFC? I don’t know but if he does, I hope he does really well for you. But I have a suspicion he won’t be as great as some expect and so I hope he goes to Chelsea! all the best You say you have a no dickheads policy but continue to pay Julio Ensico a wage

However, I believe a gentleman’s agreement existed which player, agent and club stood by https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/4596392/2023/06/09/alexis-mac-allister-transfer-liverpool/ "Liverpool knew there was a clause in the new contract Mac Allister signed last October which would help facilitate a move this summer — but they weren’t the only ones." "The clause meant that negotiations with Brighton were always going to be straightforward. The priority was getting personal terms agreed and a five-year contract was finalised after Gemelli flew to the UK last weekend, along with Carlos and Alexis." "Exactly how much Liverpool will pay for Mac Allister remains unclear with the two clubs agreeing that the fee would be undisclosed. Sources close to the player’s camp — who, like all throughout this piece, spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships/their positions — indicated that the figure paid to Brighton is as low as £35million. Sources on the south coast claimed the deal would cost Liverpool up to £55million. Liverpool have remained tight-lipped, but sources have told The Athletic it was a one-off fee to Brighton with no add-ons and that the £35million figure is more accurate than £55m." Different era of the project but Dan Burn, Trippier and Nick Pope. Sometimes you need a player to bridge you to the next era and make sure the transition is smooth. I like Welbz but he's a bit too brittle to bring in as second choice. But I wouldn't mind a Doucoure or a Welbeck just to fill in a squad gap, while we go big elsewhere. I'd be happy with JP + Doucoure for those 2 slots. JP means we probably don't need a top class CM. Edited 3 hours ago by The College Dropout

Erikse
3 hours ago, Seegull said: Possibly but I think there will be healthy competition. Perhaps ‘get rid’ was a bit strong though. The club are happy to move him on is probably more accurate and that will be ‘subject to the right fee’. Having said that, I think his replacement(s) have already been signed so we probably need to balance the books. Part of our club’s philosophy is to allow players to move on to bigger clubs when the time is right. That is a big part of why we can attract some incredible young talent. Pedro fits this narrative but the money has to be right for Bloom, especially if he feels the player hasn’t met the club half way. Contrast that with McAllister who went to Liverpool with the club’s (and fans) blessing for a lower fee than Bloom could have obtained elsewhere. Also BDB who the club didn’t want to lose but supported his move to his boyhood club and with a below market fee. What do you mean by "balance the books"? I suppose the budget that the owner has set? Because I saw an estimate of how much each club was allowed to spend within the PSR limits, and Brighton was top with a £300m headroom. Unrelated to the discussion, but I think Chelseas headroom was around the same, which is ridiculous.

KDB would have been perfect this season. We're not in Italy, where older players do well. Stay away from Welbeck and De Bruyne – high wages, injury-prone, and slow. Trippier and BDB were needed when they joined, helping us go from relegation to the Champions League, but we shouldn't sign players like that anymore. JP plays CAM, LW, and striker, so getting him means we don't need another CM unless we sell Longstaff or Willock. We just need a RW and a CB, then we're good. A new GK if the price is right and we move Dubravka or Pope. Edited 3 hours ago by tarie4
