Midfielders: Szobozlai, Macallister, Gravenberch, Elliot, Jones, Endo, Bajcetic, Morten

Forwards: Salah, Diaz, Gakpo, Wirtz, Nunez, Chiesa

They are looking to sell Elliot, Endo  Morten, Nunez, Diaz and Chiesa to fund more transfers. Spunking most of it on Isak is going to leave them with little to no squad depth. They also need another CB as they only have VVD, Konate and Gomez.

Wirtz is a midfielder, you’ve not got Ekitike there. Liverpool have raised £55mil so far in sales. Add Elliott £40mil, Nunez £60mil, Diaz £60mil, Morton £15mil, Tsimikas £10mil. Thats £240mil in total sales which almost covers entire spend including Ekitike. They can spend another £200mil on top to get Isak and Guehi

If he’s not on the plane to the far east then I’ll be concerned but I still say he stays for a season. Howe confirmed no official approach from Liverpool so they’ve clearly tried to unsettle the player and we’ll know soon enough if his head has been turned.

I think he gives us one more season then goes. We can’t actually afford to lose him this summer though.

I also wonder whether he might think about the potential options next summer too.

Take a decent wage rise from us, have another productive year in the PL and Champions League, if his release clause is in the £100-120m range there could be a bidding war between numerous elite clubs which means potentially more money in his pocket.

It still seems he may want the move and his head has been turned , let’s say for conversation wise it has - do wr keep another year and risk his value dropping as he’s down to two years and may not deliver like this year as his hearts not in It as much or do we sell now?

It depends if we can get full value this summer. For some reason Liverpool and Arsenal both seem to think they can get him on the cheap.

Thats what I think will happen mate, I don’t think he’s wedded to the premier league and knows the continents big clubs will be in for him. I think he also has an affinity with Howe, fans etc.

This is the problem with Howe's comments, they're very unhelpful in that they're open to interpretation. That said, he didn't say anything about Isak wanting to leave or having his head turned, that's just folk filling in the blanks with the worst case scenario.

It does feel a lot of this could have been circumvented by offering him a new deal earlier.

why don’t you think he’s wanting the premier league? He’s career has sky rocketed since coming here and he’s never hit figures like this. I haven’t a clue but if I was him I’d want to stay in the prem.

Newcastle can’t afford to give him a “ decent wage rise” because of PSR. The release clause you’ve quoted is also what he would go for anyway.

I’ve no idea what he wants mate but I just mean he’s probably open to clubs like Barca, Real, Bayern etc Theyll all be in for him next summer. He might end up at Liverpool though yes

Based on hunch, whenever he talks about growing up or his favourite teams, I've always thought he'd end up back in La Liga at some point.

This is another Mitchell mess as he seemingly vetoed giving him a new deal. Our hand would have been a lot stronger if we'd given him a new contract last season.

Seems like Mitchel has been a complete disaster, the club needs to sort this director role once and for all. It’s been a farce so far.

He always said Henry was one of his favourites as well though, just feel he gives nothing away in interviews.

Depends how much "decent" is but if we add an extra (for eg) two years as part of the deal, his amortisation cost comes down which will negate some of that. The advantage (to him) of having that release clause locked in is that it guarantees we can't start shifting the goalposts once we get to next summer.

Edit - very, very quick estimates but I think we could give him +2 extra years, +£100k per week and the cost of the wage increase would be cancelled out by the drop in amortisation by spreading it over two additional years

I see we’ve touched down on planet soft cunt.

Next year targets wages gets released so we could easily add them to Isaks and offer him that as a rise, along with a release clause that suits us he just might sign.

Liverpool we can rule out. Think the threat now will be PSG if they make a move. Only club who can afford it and will have space for him.

Can’t even give him a new deal right now because what cunt is at the club responsible for that? :D Just a massive void.

Another strong possibility that hasn't been covered is that this was just Howe being Howe.

He's always been very non-committal when commenting on players futures and refuses to offer guarantees

Given how much he overthinks you can envisage him worrying about photos being taken and journalist asking questions, particularly after the Arsenal "welcome home" stuff in the cup.

Dunno like - they seem to have found a pot of gold from somewhere

Still don't understand the urge to buy Ekitike now if they are still after Isak. It just makes us less willing to sell.

That’s countered by any new players that would come in. Looking at 100k plus wages for them. You then factor in that the club will be trying to tie down the likes of Tonali, Livramento and Hall to new contracts as soon as possible

My only concern is the message an Isak sale would send our other elite players.

Would depend how we spent it.

it would put us in a terrible negotiating position for replacements though.
