I've no interest in trying to absolve Isak of blame or mitigate his actions- he's been a cunt.

 

But I support Newcastle United and want what's best for the team/club's prospects of success. It's up for debate of coursr whether that is having Isak in the team or excluding him for the sake of team morale. But I don't just want him excluded to satisfy anyone's ego or for the sake of being vindictive.

 

It's nearly as bad as the "I'm sicknof this saga, just sell him for £120m and move on" I'm reading on here a lot.

I agree. All that matters is Newcastle United. If we let him go ‘cheap’ then we will likely lose a lot more money in future as cartel clubs will have learnt how to get our best players even when still under contract.

He has to stay or go on our terms. I’d tell Liverpool that we agree to sell for £150 million and not a penny less, otherwise he stays. 
Nothing vindictive or egotistical but laying down a marker so we’re not taken advantage of in future.

Vindictive or egotistical is the ‘let him rot for three years’ patter.  That hurts the club as much as it hurts Isak.

Both seem to be vindictive to me.  His crime was being a selfish underhanded asshole. Yes, He complicated our pre season. But there should be a way back from that if he shows contrition. At least a way back to a working relationship for another season. He should be experience some form of punishment, but it doesn’t have to be scorched earth.

To be fair I guess the majority, and my own position has been both. Get what we consider his value, maybe even with a being a twat premium, if they don't offer that and if he continues to be a twat then let him rot.

I agree - but in as much as he’s an asset if he’s playing.  A fine and a promise of a sale next summer would be the carrot and stick for me.

Yeah, 100%.  I’d be comfortable with it being set at different limits for different clubs.  Something like: Europe, £125m; most PL clubs, £150m; Liverpool, £300m

Isak must be shitting himself now. There's been zero movement on this transfer since Liverpool bid two weeks ago. All this "I'll never play for you again, even if I'm not sold" histrionics just comes across as one last desperate play to breathe life into a dead transfer.  

 

The idea of Newcastle, in the next 2 weeks, securing two top level strikers required for a CL season, as well as Liverpool meeting our valuation, seems fanciful at this rate.

I just can't see him going at this point, yes what he's done is toxic and yes he's a long way from being accepted by his peers, his manager and the supporters but at some point he needs to realise that the big picture is considerably more important than his immediate desires.

 

Liverpool don't seem intent on paying what he's worth, they want him but not enough to pay his premium and although he is an elite striker there are big questions, not just about his endurance and injury record now but also his temperament, he's damaged his image. If I was Liverpool I wouldn't be paying the asking price but as a Newcastle supporter I also wouldn't be accepting anything less.

 

 There is a way back for him here but I think it'll take a bit of time and some pretty hefty back rowing, he's damaged goods now but he has an opportunity for a redemption arc if he knuckles down and if we get Wissa he will need to continually prove himself to not lose his position in the team and take himself out the shop window.

Yep - the rational ones are no longer to bat away the comparisons to Sterling or Coutinho.  And they have been burnt enough that despite them puffing out their little chests, they are still at the mercy of the Bayern and Real Madrid tier of super clubs.

Suggest the only way he'll get out is by requesting a transfer. If he fails to do so then park him up and stop his wages, as I've said on a previous occasion only gonna cost £20m a season , if he gets sick sell January

Believe it or not. Not every Liverpool fan is like that potato headed shouty Irish fella and a lot of the foreign fans that frequent social media. 
 

Most of the ones I know have been against his carry on, can see the way it will play out in the future with him and a few are even against the signing because of his actions.

I wish we'd heard from some of them on the radio these last few weeks then. They've been arseholes to a man. Even the guy from Anfield Rap was telling us how our club is a shambles and we'd handled Isak abysmally. He was on TalkSport though.
