We're not at a financial level (snort) where we can take a chance on TWO expensive forward signings and hoping they work out. What if they're both shit? We're fucked for the rest of the decade. Better to keep what we know works, I would assume.

The thing  is, we’re at the financial level where if any one of our 50m+ signings is actually shit, we’re fucked for a decade anyway. Regardless of Isak.

I can't imagine Eddie saying get rid without a replacement. Especially after yesterday. In a CL season. With the world cup on the other side of the season applying pressure on the player to maintain match fitness.

Not a bad point. Nothing I can argue against there.

So why take on more risk when we've got the spine of a team that won a cup? Especially if we can't spend the money not anyway?

Because we trust our scouting and we think Isak announcing a knee op next week is a far more probable risk than Woltemade turning out to be Hojlund II?

Just because you already have high risk exposure doesn’t mean you just go “fuck it” and pile on more and more risk.

That's the spirit!

Just telling you how it goes, this was a test and at the last minute we are telling the world to come and get our only world class player at a discount without a replacement.

It's a level of pathetic we have become accustomed to.

There's a lot of noise out there either from clowns like Edwards covering all bases or the usual shills who are being paid to brief on behalf of Isak's camp and Liverpool in one last throw of the dice and/or one last chance to milk the cash cow, if we just take all that to one side and consider what the club state are acceptable conditions for a sale:

Wilson replacement

Isak replacement ✔️

Acceptable offer

All 3 have to be satisfied for any sale to take place, what constitutes an acceptable offer is where my worry is. Selling for 130m as has been touted is very concerning, I don't see why the onus is on us to rush around and overpay for a Wilson replacement just so Liverpool can get their snake at a cut price

£130m is a huge amount of money but in this context it looks weak as fuck. He's one of the best around and in the prime of his career and we're discounting him to them because they've made things difficult and just waited and waited?

Fuck this shit man

Hope you lads are prepared for Sandros turn next summer.

Tonali is pretty much nailed on to be the big sale next year but it probably won't go on like this

So this has actually happened and not just been reported by the usual suspects?

I personally find it all a little knee-jerk like not gonna lie. I'd be very surprised if we sold him tomorrow without replacements in place.

If you read the forum 2 days ago plenty people would have you believe keeping him was the absolute worst thing we could do. Now there's talk of selling him again that's the worst thing.

I don't envisage Al Ramuyyan updating mainstream media on his intent to sell Isak at this stage of the window so for me it is most likely more bollocks and more attempts to keep folk engaged on this shit-show-story that's generating hundreds of thousands of interactions via social and mainstream media.

Not to derail the thread or anything but if Tonali pulls something like this* after the club and fans stood by him during his ban, I'm quitting football and supporting my local tiddlywinks team.

* he won't

To be clear, as a club We've handled this in the worst and most weak possible way. The narrative has never been under our control and we've been constantly reacting.

We are Southampton with a bigger stadium.

So far we rejected the only offer and made a public statement he isn't for sale. Rumours are now that we're negotiating. You seem to be stating it as fact.

Our public statement was he is for sale based upon certain conditions. Looking back at that statement it was a mistake and helped drive down the price.
