Weird play from Cole signing for a new club saying he didn’t want to leave the previous one mind. As I say, I guess we’ll never know. You suggested that Cole was disliked because he played for someone else - that’s not the case

Nowt wrong with that of course, but it's a bit different to some players who basically fall in love with Newcastle. Isn’t he from Nottingham? Cole always seems like a right misery when I’ve seen him. Despite his medals coming at ManU his best football was for us, you’d think he wouldn’t want to forget it.

RUHRLYASLEEVESUP
He was always removed from us, seen it as a job / stepping stone, just another off the conveyor belt of cunts who’ve befell the inigomy of having to play for us whilst their heart beats elsewhere poor lambs

I was at a talk-in with him (and Les Ferdinand) recently. He told the story of how when he moved up here the club sorted him a house in Crook (fairly close to Maiden Castle for training). Said it was fine to start with, then he started banging the goals in and becoming a ‘name’, and he started getting all the neighbours knocking on his door to offer him sugar or such like (in a friendly way) just see or speak to him. Obviously that became too much, and he asked to be moved. Eventually he ended up buying a place in Jesmond, which he said he loved, but shortly after we sold him, and he ended up selling it to Ferdinand. Wallsendmag
Cole was an introvert and didn't like the attention away from the football pitch. He wasn't comfortable with being approached in the supermarket pr out on the street by strangers and I get that. Not a problem. He left under a bit of a cloud which was a shame and the fans backed Keegan, rightfully so. I was one of the 4,000 who stayed back at Ewood Park for over an hour singing "There's only one Kevin Keegan" in our first away match after selling him. My problem was when he went onto the pitch at Wembley after he'd beaten Liverpool in the Cup Final and was singing about us being Sad Geordie Bastards. From that moment he could fuck right off for me. Remember he played in Beardsleys Testimonial and got a generally decent reception but not off me. I booed the cunt. Still ranks as one of my favourite away memories that one - went with my dad and uncle, atmosphere was electric. Hottiger’s FK is still better than Roberto Carlos’s I was in the front row. Jumped over the fence onto the cinder track when Clarkie scored down the other end with 5 minutes to go. Was promptly grabbed by 2 stewards, one on each arm, and frogmarched out so went to wait on the minibus. Must have sat there best part of half an hour and not a soul came out. Got back off and walked to the ground to see what was going on. All the gates were open so I just walked back in again and the away end was still chocker even though the FT whistle had gone 20 mins ago so I just joined in with the Kevin Keegan song for another half hour or so

Wallsendmag
Another vivid memory of that Blackburn trip was the journey down there. Went on a Transit minibus with bench seats down each side, cases of lager underneath them stretching the full length of the minibus. Can't even remember how I ended up going with them, my mate from school was with me so he must have organised it but I remember them all being a good 10 years older than us and they were a bunch of absolute lunatics. Remember speeding down the motorway and one of them needing a piss and then promptly opening the back doors whilst he pissed out of the back whilst another lad grabbed hold of him by his belt for safety. One slip and he was a goner. Instant death for sure.

On another note I don’t think him and Beardsley speak now do they? Wonder what went on there. I know his first Keegan fall out was linked to a Keegan and Clark row, they’re still close but I’d love to know what happened with him and Peter. Scoreboard82
Once seen Cole at a signing session in West Denton Blockbusters, remember them? He looked the most miserable man on the planet. Can't be fun but he seriously didn't want to be there. Oh and he was an absolute bell end when he was singing the cheer up Kevin Keegan song after that cup final too. Cole went to Huddersfield with Clark as well as a striker coach for a bit, I’m surprised he hasn’t done more of that really. Im not having the ‘toot head’ nonsense though. Utter shite that imo.
