The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

Do Forest get Chelsea’s Europa spot? (If they win the final).

Quote

Each European titleholder is guaranteed a place in Europe. As above, if any team finishes in a European place domestically, there is no additional place. However, if a team does not qualify from domestic competition, it's an extra spot for the titleholders on top of the league allocation -- even if all three were to do so.

Originally top 5 is the european domestic places, but us winning the Carabao and getting top 5 made it top 6 instead (before EPS is applied). Chelsea finished in the top 6, which means nothing will happen should they win the final.

We'll get some shit draws again I bet. Man City and Liverpool will end up playing Bodo/Glimt and Ferencvaros.

But that's how it goes when it's seeded I suppose.

Madrid

Dortmund

Brugge

Juventus

Bodo

Slavia

Celtic

Copenhagen

That's what I'd pick.

What we hoping for then? 2 from each pot isn't it?

I was only 15 when we lost that game against Sporting Lisbon. It was supposed to be our cup. One of the pre-tournement favourites, getting to the semi-finals the season before, the same cup we won in 1969.

We won the first leg 1-0, even went a goal up early in the 2nd leg. Had some good chances after that as well. They came back and beat us 4-1. I cried myself to sleep that night.

I want revenge, I want us to fucking better them. There needs to be Sporting Lisbon kids crying, asking their fathers why, and the answer is us, you angered us those years ago, and now we came back a beast to destroy them. Ally McCoist will be on the commentary telling the kid to cheer up, things will be ok. But it won’t be ok, because it’s 9-0 and it’s not even half time, and the Portuguese TV coverage is issuing warnings for distressing scenes.

Looking at the table, it's mental Chelsea finished 4th. So utterly inspiring.

I'd say we're as good being the 3rd or 4th best team in the country this year, and there's absolutely no reason to believe that we won't build on that

The results against 8th-14th we should be looking at as a good thing for next season knowing there's a big clump of points we should be able to claim there once we have the 4-5 players added to what we have.

Go and get a win against City or Liverpool for once, keep beating the fodder and add 10 or so points from the mid-table sides and we're laughing.

Be a home game if we get Union SG away as they have to play their games in the national stadium due to their own ground being a beautiful old shit tip

In some ways we’re the anti Chelsea. They have struggled with culture and structure but they just have such a higher number of good players that they made it anyway.

We were never going to win that tournament with Souness.

Dyer and Jenas were killing Sporting with their pace and athleticism. Think they both got injured in the game and that was that.

So just to confirm my overall selections.

Pot A: Real Madrid, Bayern Munich

Pot B: Villarreal, Club Brugge

Pot C: Sporting Lisbon, Marseille

Pot D: Farencváros, Celtic

Agree with this. The floor of Chelsea’s squad in ability is crazy high (except the GK and ST).  Their 20-25 players would’ve probably started for us today

Is that the game he fell out with Robert the night before?

Memories of a Steven Carr disaster class as well! If it’s the game I’m thinking about, it’s anger over sadness for me
