Feel a bit better knowing that Dortmund are at home for their game against PSG. Can't see them taking the foot off the gas too much in front of their home crowd.

Did Dortmund not lose the title on home soil last year? ?

Dortmund will surely be highly motivated to top the group.

Their likely opponents if they top the group are...

Copenhagen/Galatasary/Man U

PSV/Lens

Napoli

Lazio

Porto

While if they finish second...

Arsenal

Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid

Man City

Barcelona

Not a definitive list as little is settled but it would be a surprise of any of the teams in the second list don't win their groups.

(They could also play Inter/Sociedad, hard to call how that group will go)

But yeah, they'll be up for it against PSG IMO.

Hopefully they think they've got our and Milan's number, so would prefer us going through than PSG.

Bookies give us 8/11 odds to win and PSG 11/10.

Gives us about 30% chance to get top two on paper

Think they are way to optimistic on PSGs odds though, they havent been any good away from home.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I wouldn’t mind it if we end up third and going for the EL.

On paper, we are stronger than all other teams in that competition except Liverpool. We will be getting stronger and more ambitious every season, so next seasons it would be even less attractive to go there. Now’s the season to make it far there. And then if we win it, we guarantee another UCL seat the next season in case we end up 6th in the league or something.

That group gets pulled out of the pot and you're told at the time that with a game to go a win or draw will guarantee Europa League football, and a win and a result going our way means we go through. You'd be delighted with that and I am delighted with that, regardless of the context.

We know Paris SG have to win away at Dortmund if we beat Milan at home

Dortmund have only lost 1 home game in all competitions since 20 August 2022 ... over 15 months ... and that was Beyen Munich

Bet365 odds - Dortmund or draw 5/6 - PSG win 10/11 - 52% to 48% for our favoured result.

PSG have only won 4 out of 8 away matches this season (all competitions).

In the Champions League they've lost both of their away matches - lost 4-1 to us and lost 2-1 to Milan.

We've still got a good chance if we sink Milan !

I'm delighted with that fact but I'm still raging about everything else.

Dortmund do have a winter break coming up but their schedule for the next 3 week's is hectic, with no midweek off.

Sun A

Wed, cup A

Sat A

Wed, PSG H

Sat A

Tue H

They will still want to get something to top the group, potentially make a statement, knock out PSG, send home fans happy etc. but if they were going to lose any of those 6 matches then this would likely be the one they would prefer, so there likely will be a few changes, especially with the older players.

Final group game at SJP to decide if we're Last 16, Europa League, or bumming it back home in the league cup and FA cup. Atmosphere should be rocking.

Dortmund will already be top of the group so might play a weakened side against PSG

But if PSG beat them, Dortmund would drop to 2nd in the group and face tougher opposition in the next round.  They would play a team who has won their group.

I don't think they will play a weakened side and they won't want to lose.

Na, they know if PSG win, PSG will defo top the group, regardless of score due to H2H, so there is at least something to play for, and there isn't a perfect result to suit either side, which is a bonus, but it probably will be treated as the least important of their aforementioned 6 matches in quick succession, and to be fair, with 3 wins in a row, 2 of them away, they've kind of earned the right to do how they please.

You’d hope with BVB more or less out of the title race in Germany and out of the cup they’d value the coming top of the group. You never know though. Even dropping half a % can be the difference. Just need to make sure we do our job and then we can have no complaints either way.
